I think we should eliminate the part where the president swears on the bible. The bible is an instrument of the church to spread false information, and it has no place in the government. Why not swear on the Constitution ofthe United States?
Sometimes if you wait long enough, you can get anime for drastically lower prices. If you look at some of ADV Films box sets, you can get an entire series for $90 or even $60 that originally retailed for $180 or more ($30 per DVD for 6+ DVDs.) of course these box sets may come out a year or two after the first DVD or the series is released... if you check out rightstuf.com, they also have weekly specials, and they sometimes have these type of box sets for 25% to 50% off.
one dub that i've been able to tolerate after seeing it with the original japanese is Cowboy Bebop... (except Ed). the dub for Stand Alone Complex is pretty good, but again, the tachikoma voice is almost unbearable for me after hearing the original. i think they tried too hard to make them sound like an annoying kid or something.
I'm a big fan of Ghost in the Shell, but I'm still a little confused on the continuity... the first movie is based mostly on part of the first manga series. and the second movie is a continuation of that. (and now i see there's a novel out too.) but the second manga series, Man Machine Interface, seems to be completely different? and Stane Alone Complex is also completely different? I have not had a chance to see much of the series yet, but I've liked what I have seen, and I see they've already made a second season of it. i also really enjoyed the game they made out of it too...
i will say this: i find girls who are actually good musicians or good singers and actually write their own material much more attractive than the overhyped hot chicks who really have no talent, have their albums way overproduced in order for their shitty recordings sound "good".
who pays $18 for a CD? i go to newbury comics, and new releases are usually $8 to $13. if you go to sam goody to buy music, you're an idiot.
and also, who wants to buy one song, and not a whole album? iif i really like a band or artist, i want to hear all the other songs they sing, not let the radio decide what songs i want to hear. tons of bands have tons of great songs that you will never ever hear on the radio, becuase it was never released as a single.
first of all, $1 is the absolute maximum i am willing to pay for a lossy digital music file. at that price, i am even reluctan to buy files with DRM. there are pleny of digital music services that sell unladen mp3s, and a few that are selling them in FLAC for a bit more.
second of all, this guy is an idiot. "selling music through iPod; we should get a share". if he means "selling music through iTunes music store", they already ARE getting a share. and in some places, they are also getting a share of the profits on digital audio players. (and blank CD, and cassettes, that may or may not be used for copying copyrighted materials).
the real answer to why it has an Audigy 2 ZS is that the audigy supports EAX 4, which a lot of games use for positional audio, to take the strain off the CPU and boost performance.
If $100 Million dollars won't make you want to switch to Vista, what will?
instead of spending $100 million on marketing, just give away 500,000 copies of the software. that's the only way they'll get me to use the software. i'm sure as hell not paying $200 for an upgrade that's been in development for 5 years, yet has had most of it's major features cut.
what is vista anyway? from what i've seen, it's prettier than XP, it has some weird virtual folders thing, it will have WinFS, and... well, it's good becuase microsoft says so i guess...
they say it takes 6 months for the fingernail to be completely replaced? am i just a freak with fast growing fingernails? a while ago, i cut a little notch in the base of my thumbnail, and i'll be damned if it took more than two months to grow all the way to the edge...
if there's a song or an album that i really have to have, first i will look on usenet, then i will look on some torrent sites, then i will look on iTunes. i've ended up buying about a dozen albums since the iTunes music store opened. sometimes i will skip iTunes and just buy the CD, if i can find it cheap enough on amazon or ebay.
if i have an album that i've downloaded illegally, and i really love it, i will usually go out and buy the CD. probably 25% of my CDs are ones that i downloaded before i decided to buy.
"One of the unique things about the V500 is its scroll panel, and this is the very first mouse to actually use this concept."
maybe the way it's done on this particular mouse is new, but it's not really a new idea to replace the scroll wheel with something more functional... microsoft's and even some of logitech's have the backward and forward, side to side wheel. kensington had a mouse with a scroll pad, similar to the creative zen micro. we just got some mice at work that have a trackball instead of a wheel. (though it doesnt work as well as i had hoped).
if i wanted to build a computer with an athlon 64 processor, specifically to run some sort of x86-64 compatible linux, what motherboard, video card, sound card, etc should i get to ensure maximum compatibility?
You can't get the right to upload music for $5 a month
it seems that yahoo can upload unlimited music to people for $5 per month each... so why should other people be liable for hundreds of thousands, and pay $3000 settlements?
Likewise, only a sick fuck would rather really kill people than watch other people pretend to kill people.
Violence: Terrific in fictional entertainment; sick and wrong in reality.
yes. i agree with that.
Only a sick fuck would rather watch other people pretending to have sex than actually have real sex themselves.
Sex: Terrific in reality; sick and wrong in fictional entertainment.
i don't understand this part though. why is fictional sex bad? of course, it is discussed and alluded to in just about every sitcom, and plenty of movies. so there's nothing wrong with the idea of it. why is the act of sex so taboo? and why is it sick and wrong in entertainment? i don't understand where your arguement for this is coming from...
this is my experience with SP2... I installed a beta of it (yay technet) and it completely screwed up my computer. basically, networking didnt work. i dont remember if i was able to uninstall it, of if i had to reinstall windows...
i installed it again when it actually came out, and it worked great.

Why does everyone on /. always assume the worst?
maybe it's because bush ordered the nsa to illegally spy on US citizens, to "fight terrorism". why wouldn't he wan't the logs for the same reasons?

i just wonder how the series did on dvd, and how the movie isgoing to do...
Rhapsody only has like 6 albums...

umm... Apple annound Tiger, what, a year ago? where has TigerDirect been for the last year?

of course the argument against that is, if they don't want to pay for the music, they can't listen to it...
