My Alexa keeps chiming in with there are no new messages a few times a night whilst watch TV. At first I thought it was something on the TV audio that would trigger Alexa, but after Alexa tells me there are no message, I rewind live TV and replay the same segment but nope, Alexa does not respond. So I have no idea what is triggering Alexa
In my eyes, maybe a bit of nostalgia Win98 SE was probably one of the best OS's I used.
Over the years Win has bloated badly but I can see what they are trying to do with 10S but it way to reliant on other people providing content into the store.
It is quite hard at times to run my compiled exe's with Win10 Pro moaning all the time about permissions for this and that and it's just way too expensive to get a cert to sign my own code.
We are ready had an Internet we wanted, until money grabbing companies started the spam business, the Ads business, Viral writers, Script Kiddies and the general uneducated public who things it's ok to be spiteful and nasty via the anonymity of a keyboard all arrived
As the transistor's get closer to the minimum allowed and with them unable to push past 4.3Ghz (unless extreme cooling is used) the CPU has reached stagnation and it's just clever marketing with little features built into the CPU that differentiates each process(along with the stupid naming conventions now used which mean nothing to many people means we should be looking elsewhere.
We need to dump silicon, or find a hybrid way of using current nm production process with a new material to increase computing power else we shall just end up hugh multi-core CPU like 64 or 128core.
It's all about Trust. Trust in the manufacture, trust in the firmware, trust in the company doing the security assessment.
However you can not trust any manufacturer and experience shows every manufacturer will tell everyone there product is secure by the use of obfuscation and downlight lies. How many Chinese firms stamp official certifications marks onto devices and package as a matter of de-facto.
How many times do you here from a big corporation the "ONLY A FEW CUSTOMERS WERE EFFECTED" when in reality it was every customer. Lies and bullshit, so who can you trust
1) Why can't most data be kept Airgapped. Do companies really need to have everything on the public internet
2) Why can't all data be encrypted in databases, not just passwords but everything. So what if it take a couple of extra seconds waiting for the decrypt.
And i pity these workers all being employed to ring people up pretending to be Microsoft claiming their Windows PC are sending reports that it broken and needs fixing!!!
When the servers went offline, many thousands of people lost access to their work and home files. I have my photo archive on Megaupload but I have still got no way to get it back as some scardy cat corporate tosser says "No" to everyone just in case someone might get a copy of some porno or action movie. FFS
Yeah... Look, Anonymous Coward, this is a multi-million dollar installation, okay? He can't make that kind of decision. He's just a grunt! Uh, no offense.
If you put CAT6 into the ground, I also presume you'll also lay power cable into the same trench in which as shield the CAT6
But CAT6 is not the way to go as it has limitations, though it does depend on what bandwidth you want to run at. I know the max you can get but alot depends on the actual ISP connection.
You could look at running Powerline, a much neater solution and can now run at 1Gbps (which is what I do here at home). I have not used my wired network for ages now. Security is good as it only runs on YOUR main loops.
As for physical security that all depends on how much the person wants to break in, so the deterrent has to be good to put them off else they will GET IN.
So good IR Cameras covering most external areas, plus one looking at the door from the inside. Also put up PIR sensor lights around the building to help illuminate the CCTV coverage.
Windows would need to be double glazed safety glass. If physical looks need to be attractive then put up some heavy duty shutters over the windows to use when not in use.
The door to be reinforced solid wood or GRP with multiple lock mechanism
If you can, place thin wire all around the external walls in the cavity and wire this up to the alarm system, as sometime the windows and door are so strong it easier to break through the wall to get in especially if it's wooden shingles.
Alarm system fitted to doors and windows, with a pressure pad by the door.

Too bloody right!!!
That all SSL traffic out of the windown, my secure mail server will now not be secure, no more buying on the internet, no watching Netflix, no watching BBC iPlayer and no smegging flap jacks
I am sure they must have radar on the ISS that can show and track incoming junk so they don't have to hide if somthing passes 1.5miles away.
If they take refeuge in the Soyuz spacecraft what would happen if that was hit instead of the ISS
imagine suspension or cable stay bridges made with this near invisible fibre.
Has Blue Origin even got plans for a heavy launch vehicle. They have not really played with the Shepard yet much.

Alcantara Keyboard... yuk!
And that is a selling point?

Sinclair Basic on a zx80
My favourite has to be "The Matrix", watched it hundreds of times
I don't have the zx81 any longer but I still have my working ZX Spectrum 48k with the good old microdrive tapes
And me. I loved building that little "poke" zx80 when I was 14 before moving onto the ram pack wobble zx81 a year later.

Yeah, I bet your good browser is the good old IE8
