Why is this interesting? It has NOTHING to do with the topic at hand. Here...let me be interesting:
Install a better air conditioner. Like a Trane or something.
The IGN article at the end says you will need a Media Center PC as well. This just made this little device completely worthless! Looks like the $50 modchip is still the best option.
Nov 9th = Halo 2 Sick Day
Nov 15th = Metroid Prime 2: Echoes Sick Day
Nov 16th = Half Life 2 Sick Day
Nov 22nd = Nintendo DS Sick Day
I just think my boss might figure it out....
emerge kde = ALL the KDE packages...
Did you need kdeedu? Did you need kdepim? Did you need kdeartwork?
If not, then the long compile was your own dumb fault. Emerge kdebase = just the basic's. Then add the packages you need after that.
Be sure that your X Server is set to 24 bit mode. 16 bit mode won't workie. Also, it uses OSS for sound output. So all of us ALSA users had better have OSS emulation.
Hope those two things help.
Problem, they only created a tunneling app. This has nothing to do with actually creating a large multiplayer network system. I could have used any other network tunneling system to get the same affect.
Also, they weren't the "first". The Kai version of X-link was the first to offer Gamecube tunneling.
I have a hard time believing this based on what we have seen from the Warp Pipe team. They produced an application that barely works (not fully their fault though). Why would Nintendo team up with some group that hasn't ever proven themself in the market?
Unless the bug is in PictoChat, since that is BUILT INTO THE DEVICE. I can't wait for a bug that exploits PictoChat's "wake up" your DS feature and start turning DS's on all over the place and spamming;)
I have a 5200 128MB on an Athlon XP 2600+ with 1GB of RAM (gaming isn't my big thing on my pc) and it runs well @ 800x600 medium quality. I did a few tweaks like unpacking the compressed files and such. So all you fools saying the 5200 won't play it well would do well to shut up and get informed.
This has been the highest traffic month for my website ever due to this article. According to my analog I have this break down:
30937 Mozilla
6010 Konqueror
3935 MSIE
2028 Opera
325 Safari
211 Netscape (8 Netscape/1, had to note that)
42 Lynx
I wrote up a guide to setting up Xorg 6.8RC4 + X Composite with shadows and transperency the other day. These steps should also hold true for 6.8 final of course. Enjoy.
What you are requesting can already be done basically in Gentoo (emerge -Uupv world), Debian (apt-get something or other) and Redhat/Fedora (up2date something or other). So why do we need something else again:)
Oh, with Gentoo...add ccache to that for faster compiles too
Re:basic... very basic.

$75 for a CDR or DVD-R? Crap...you got ripped off
CD-R = $25
Single layer DVD-R = $65
both from newegg.
I am suprised that every time an MS vs Tivo article comes out no one mentions anything about the offerings from Dish Network. They have some rather innovative products like the DVR 522. It is a dual tuner DVR, so it can watch two live streams, record two streams, record two + watch two pre-recorded and more. It also (if you hadn't already realized) can output to two TV's. I have it powering my second tv in my office. So you can share your recorded shows across those two tv's. This winter/next spring they will be releasing the DVR 942. It is a HD DVR that is also a dual tuner model. It goes a step further since the secondary output on the 942 is SD it will automatically downsample all HD content to be able to be watched on your second non-HDTV as well. So while Tivo does have some nice features like Name Based Recordings (come on E*...get this implemement!) they are bringing some really cool toys to the table.
Oh yeah...and the 522 is free with no contract;) So you can't really beat the price!
To anwser one of your questions, yet it will have single cart multiplayer like the GBA currently does. As for actually linking, it is all wireless. They have a proprietary system for when you are within 100' and then they offer 802.11 for internet multiplayer from what they said at e3.
I used gcc 3.4 for a while on Gentoo and had no real luck with it. There are a number of applications that won't compile under it or die a horrible death after being build with it. But maybe that was just me. Is it "better" now?
Actually this wasn't so much a Mozilla bug as a Windows bug. The shell:// protocol was seen as an unsupported protocol by Mozilla so it passed it on to the OS to deal with it. The same flaw is still present in MSN Messanger and MS Word (not sure what all versions). Mozilla/Firefox is already patched to just drop shell:// protocol request (though maybe Windows should be protecting this) and the MS products aren't patched yet.
I wonder when we are going to see Dish Networks (EchoStar) DVR offerings in these kind of comparisions. They have been advertising them a TON and now you can actually get a DVR from them for free (lease, not own). I have a Dish DVR 522 and there was no hardware costs to me at all. I don't own my dish, I don't own my receiver. But I do have a 120GB DVR with dual tuners that can feed to two tv's (each watching a different stream). While some might complain about the interface (maybe they are talking about older 5XX models), I find the 522 very easy to use. They have also announced that they will be adding support for loading pictures, mp3s and the like to it via the USB input soon.
They didn't sell Unreal 2k3? That has the Linux binaries on the CD. What Unreal 2k4? Cause they binaries are there too. Or Quake 3 Arena...again...binaries there. Last but not least, you can pre-order Doom 3...again...Linux binaries right there!
So...while they do sell other things that run on Linux with binaries you download, there are other options that are right on the cd.
I am aware this is a slightly older chip. I only note this because of the addition of the TV tuner and FM tuner and such. It is always nice to see a good card with lots of features not hurting those poor 200W PSU's and such;)
That is what really suprises me and makes me happy. With the relativily low power PSU that come stock in XPC's this is great. Couple this with a new AMD XP Mobile (45W) processor and you got a nice setup in your new iDeq or Shuttle:)
180 channels + 11 Starz Movie channels + 8 or 9 local channels (nbc, abc, cbs, etc)...and still I watch like 4 of them mostly and then listen to the Sirius Radio stations on Dish now too...do I need 500+ tv stations? No...give me fully on-demand TV...that is the future if you ask me.

I just find it great that I read this while looking at a /. ad for preloading Half Life 2 now :)

Why would the ex-president of Nintendo of Japan call him? Maybe Gates needs to realize that Iwata is the president there now ;)

I live in Plainville, KS and we literally just got SBC DSL 2-3 months ago. I figure I will see this in like 10 years at the earliest :P
