  1. Best chemical to abort trip on Why An LSD High Lasts For So Long (pbs.org) · · Score: 1

Try L-Theanine, 200-2,000mg+ (you can mix the pure powder into tea like peppermint tea). It's a harmless amino acid found naturally in green tea in small amounts, and aborts trips via another way besides 5ht2a antagonism. I believe it just quiets the excitation (glutamate) of the brain. I've tested it personally and with other people who all agree it works, and is the least prone to side effects of any other medication administered for such purposes. I was actually trying to test out the combination on someone who uses psychedelic 5HT2-A agonists such as LSD or mushrooms for cluster headaches, to see if they could avoid having to do the "trip" part, I wonder if it'd still help with the cluster headaches. Be an interesting experiment.

You can buy it at Walmart in the health supplement section, or really cheap via bulk powder on the internet with a quick search. Just make sure if you use it for these purposes it doesn't contain anything besides the l-theanine (no green tea or caffeine).

  2. Uneducated Comments on Major Retailers Accused of Selling Fraudulent Herbal Supplements · · Score: 1

Wow there certainly is a lot of malice here in regards to people's attitudes towards herbal supplements. Check out http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pu... and read up on the efficacy of various herbal supplements. There is a big difference between homeopathic and herbal supplements. Some herbal supplements do actually have noticeable and measurable benefits and often minimal side effects. A lot of extracts are where the efficacy shows. Many extracts are standardized for a certain amount of desired active constituents. You just have to use a reputable brand and find a product that works for what you need. There isn't an herbal cure for everything, but there are a lot that will help treat or prevent certain conditions For example there are are quite a few herbal extracts that can help with diabetes, such as certain strains of cinnamon extract, or gymnema sylvestre (both which have been shown to be significantly beneficial in scientific trials).I just recommended boswellia serrata extract for my Uncle for his arthritis, he started taking it a few days ago and has already noticed significant relief. Then there is peppermint oil as another posted mentioned for IBS.

I would also like to point out that not everyone who believes in the efficacy of some herbal supplements is against modern medicine or is some kind of all-organic-consuming naturalist. I just wanted to make a point that there is a huge difference between homeopathic (placebo dilution), and herbal extracts and supplements.I hope this sort of scandal doesn't make it any harder to sell and purchase herbal supplements, but rather just points out the frauds and could potentially show who is true from analyzing their products.

Also, "you can't get a Mac without the bells and whistles." If you mean't hardware bells and whistles, then I don't think that statement is true. Have you looked at the peripheral components (everything besides CPU), of the apple laptops and computers? SMALL hard drives, low ram, crappy video cards, etc. Go on apple.com and newegg.com and do a comparison, you pay at least 2x as much for apple hardware, if not much more.

Enough of the 'stupid religious people preventing disease control!'. What about the civil safety rights? I highly object against mandatory vaccination. Vaccination has a lot of controversy to it, and risks that it carries. Autism, Immune Dysfunction, among other things, have been linked to vaccines and vaccine preservatives (Thimerosal). This is definetly an issue of civil rights. I believe I should have the right to choose whether or not I have to be vaccinated. From the information I've read, I believe the risks often outweigh the benefits in vaccination. Considering the track record of previous vaccines, and especially since the HPV vaccine is new, I will remain skeptical and outraged at the mandatory injections of them.

  17. The Real Dope on Smart Drugs on Cognitive Enhancement Drugs · · Score: 2, Informative

I would like to make a few points myself, as an avid nootropic ("smart-drug") user. Nootropic: a word coined by Dr. Giurgea to describe a new class of drugs that act as cognitive enchancers with no side effects or toxicity, from Greek words noos, meaning mind and tropein meaning toward. The December 6th issue of newsweek had in huge font on the cover "Memory Drugs", and talked of ampakines, but also called the older nootropics "shots in the dark". If they are shots in the dark, I highly recommend shooting in the dark. A lot of pharmy companies would rather come up with more patentable/profitable drugs and chemicals.

There are a lot of drugs now adays that are considered smart drugs. Some are the 'racetams (piracetam, aniracetam, pramiracetam, oxiracetam). I have taken piracetam and aniracetam to my personal benefit, as I do suffer from attention, concentration, and general mental-clarity problems. Piracetam is super non-toxic and I highly recommend trying it (Do your research, google it!). It is thought to increase oxygen in the brain and act as a neuroprotectant, especially in environments with decreased oxygen.

There are also amino acids that are considered smart drugs, like l-theanine which produces a calm-concentrated mood, the amino is found in green tea, and is thought to be why green tea hardly gives the jitters. Try it for yourself by taking l-theanine with caffiene (coffee as a most likely source). So all of the posters who say "Hey, coffee/caffiene is all I need!", why not try supplementing with a natural amino acid. Vinpocetine is also a very usefull suppliment, it increases the blood flow to the brain, and is derived from the periwinkle plant. DMAE is also considered a smart-drug (dimethyl-amino-ethanol). DMAE is a precursor to acetyl-choline, one of the most used neurotransmitters. There are a whole lot more out there, so I highly recommend checking it out. Re-quoting a quote from http://smi2le.biz ( who also happens to be a cheap supplier of such suppliments [no affliction] )

"In 2004 Out-Caste agents started circulating the rumor that Intelligence was the most important factor in human life.

They said: "What else do you value? Love? Virtue? Money? Power? Freedom? Truth? All of these can be enhanced by increasing intelligence. A failure to increase intelligence can only diminish our ability to obtain and enjoy those goods.""

They were small people. "The Bayan Kara Ula, or Bayan Har Shan, area of China is where the source of Yangtze River is located and where the Mekong River turns south toward Vietnam. It's said to be very isolated and the people there still live in rather primitive conditions, although this is changing very quickly. In January of 1938, a Chinese archaeologist named Professor Chu Pu Tei led a rather routine expedition into these mountains. However, what they discovered in a group of caves shunned by the superstitious local natives was far from routine. In the caves, the expedition discovered a series of graves lined up in rows. On the walls of the caves there were stick-figure drawings of men with elongated heads and representations of the sun, moon, and stars. When they excavated the graves, the archaeologists found skeletons of less than four feet in length with abnormally large skulls." link
