Shouldn't that be rien, zilch, nada. La plus belle femme de cinema en 2001 etait, sans doubt, l'actrice qui a jouer dans la role d'Amelie.
Quelle babe!
Since the patch doesn't show how eidx has been calculated it's not immediately obvious that this patch should even be applied. That is, if the bug was subsequently "fixed" by incrementing eidx, when it was calculated, then this patch would make matters worse. So you'd have to go get the 2.4.3 source and verify that the calculation of eidx has not itself changed.
My 19" JVC may be outdated, but the image from DVD and digital cable is great. I'm waiting for the 27" (or so) flat panel HDTV's to hit the $1k mark before I bother upgrading to anything else.
Besides, it's becoming harder and harder to find *anything* worth watching on the idiot box these days anyway.
Ha! You know that/.'s days are numbered when a comment is modded up to 4 - Interesting but the author of said comment is talking about something completely different, and obviously has not read the article in question.
The problem with the/. moderation system is that it exists.
I can't remember where I first read this bit of advice, but it will help you in ANY situation you get yourself into with the lovely and talented Kathleen Fent,
Oh, yeah, right. Sorry
We now resume our regularly scheduled programming.
All FOX (CBS, ABC, NBC,...) programming sucks these days. I'm a little surprised how passionate some of you people are about Futurama which I find to be tedious and unfunny. The only character who's even remotely funny, in my mind, is the cigar smoking robot, but even he is one of the reasons that the Simpsons have become similarly lame in the past few years.
Reason #1 why the Simpsons went down the tube? Homer became a complete hateful idiot. Originally, before many of you were cognisant, Homer was a lovable oaf. Somehow, the writers decided that he should be an angry hateful oaf. The humour surrounding Homer has turned into one mean act after another.
It's amazing how a similarly minded group of individuals can disagree so completely on humour. I suspect we are witnessing here the dreaded 'Generation Gap'. Kids these day. Feh! I find it interesting that some people dislike shows like Malcolm in the Middle (which I find to be occasionally humourous) and then turn around and promote Futurama. Something for everyone, most of the time, appears to be the approach used by the suits at Fox.
BTW, if you want to see a funny show, and you have access to digital cable in Canada, check out The Royles. But only if you find potty mouth jokes to be funny.
It's funny who sickening that statement is, but beyond that I can't imagine what drugs the moderators were smoking who modded this pinhead all the way up to four. Shite, I hope he *was* kidding.
But what I find amazing, after all these years, is that 46% of the population is *still NOT* online. What the hell is life like without the goddamn internet? I can't even remember it's been so bloody long. I've been considering chopping up my home systems for recyclable goods and dumping my cable connection for a while now. Digital TV over cable sucks too so what's the point? I think I'll join the other 46%. Or, I would, if I lived in the Yoo Ess.
You whinging little twat. How old are you? Five? What the fsck is slashdot posting this fucking shite for? Kick the little lackwit in the arse and tell him to get off his kit and get a fucking job.
I hope they have the sense to have a voice synthesiser 'read' out the code, if the participants really feel that this is an important project. The whole endeavour sounds to be a bit dumb. And if they really want to emulate the 'numbers' stations they'll have to use a
one time pad to encrypt the 'message'.
It's all codswallop this morning... where's my goddamned newspaper!!??!!
What a load of codswallop. The human of the future will evolve into a fat-assed, lazy, couch potato with the ability to see approximatedly 5 metres without eye-glasses. Oh wait, nevermind.
Someone should take this 'perfesser' idiot out back and put him out of his misery.
That's not necessarily true. They state that they require a written agreement to use LZW. To whit,
The answer is simple. In all cases, a written license agreement or statement signed by an authorized Unisys representative is required from Unisys for all use, sale or distribution of any software (including so-called "freeware") and/or hardware providing LZW conversion capability (for example, downloaded software used for creating/displaying GIF images). In certain cases, no license fees may be required, but this needs to be evidenced by a written agreement or written statement signed by an authorized Unisys representative.
The last time the angles let down their guard the Normans came in a polluted our language, not to mention the monarchy, thence the standard epithet, Be careful of the French.
I've got a crappy^H^H^H^H^Hlittle asus motherboard at work that's hobbled with one of these horrible i810 chipsets (i815 actually), anyway, the sound has been working on 2.4 for some time now.
Don't be too smug there Mr Metrollica. My experience, humble as it may be, with linux 2.4.x has been that it was unstable until 2.5 appeared. Well, after that one little problem was cleared up in 2.5. Anyway, my point is, that even in the stable fork it takes a while for it to become stablised.
BTW, don't get me wrong, the guys and gals working on the kernel are a talented bunch and 2.4 is a vast improvement in many ways over 2.2.
Am I the only one who thinks this particular quote stinks of AppleSpeak? You know it wasn't written by a programmer if they use the term empower. I'll leave the details of the analysis of this particular platform to a game programmer and stick to fiddling with the linux kernel for now, thanks very much (a platform which is also supported on apple hardware <w>).
So, when reporting Lindows related stories, should tux be equipped borg style, as Bill is, in the slashdot icon? Or should it show Bill wearning a tuxedo?
There's a lot of huffing and puffing and sniffing going on here about the quality of the "code" and/or "encryption" technique used here. This message is a perfectly valid example of an encoding technique. In fact, there are two methods of encoding here: 1) the characters are first indexed numerically and then 2) the indices are written in base 4. Granted, it was pretty obvious that it was going to be a simple solution since the first thing that jumps out at you is the fact that it is a series of base 4 numbers. But that's not the goddamn point.
The point is about solving a problem. It is about the thought processes involved, not necessarily the difficulty involved in the encoding technique. What the fsck do you expect them to do? Publish a 1024 bit PGP encrypted problem and have potential candidates use distributed.net to crack the code?
Sheesh! Give them some credit. It's better than the usual approach to University entrance (a letter from daddy, with a fat cheque, to the dean).
Now bugger off and get out to the curb, the school bus is coming any minute now.
I'm not going to argue with you on the fundamentals of product economics, but your point about Apple and LCD's is nonsense. The main driving force for bringing down the cost of LCD's in the past year has certainly been the PC industry players. As usual, Apple jumps on board and claims they invented it all along. Sheesh!
<w>

I can't wait for Micro$oft to crash and burn.
What's the buzz?
Now who's 3L33T?
Careful.

Don't believe me? Just ask an anglo in Montreal.
How do you pronounce that? Cuebild or Coobild?
BTW, does anyone else think that kbuild sounds like it is somehow related to KDE? Funny how that happens.
