Typical Hollywood crap. If some two-bit adrenaline junkie ran around playing cowboy in RL like the main protagonist did in that movie, he'd have spent four-fifths of his tour of duty in the guardhouse.
"....This raises the question whether the U.S. military would be able to perform operations in North Korea given how fragile their equipment seems to be."
Piffle. You can make a broad-spectrum jammer with nothing more than a big, honkin' amplifier and a spark plug, and it'll jam everything for miles around.
Fine. Now let's talk about the survivability of such a system in battlefield conditions. Firing-up a jammer on a battlefield is like standing on the 50-yard line of a blacked-out football stadium full of snipers, and lighting a road flare. Surprise! Your lifespan is now measured in seconds.

I look forward to the day when the Red Chinese visit the Apollo XI landing site, roll up the American flag, and mail it to the White House. Postage Due, of course.
If this is properly executed, and the universities don't manage to sue it out of existence, this could quite possibly knock the bottom out of the old college textbook scam.

You have to understand, Rogerborg, that when most people say "organized crime syndicate," "evil corporation," "the Man," or other such, what it actually translates to is "anyone who has more money than I do."
I have some troubles with Asperger's myself, yet I still can tell the difference between right and wrong.
What is this, the "waah, waah, I'm a victim" defense?
OBL was responsible for only the smallest fraction of that three trillion. The balance of it was frittered away to appease the hordes of bleating sheep demanding 'perfect' security from the politicians.
Admittedly, I tend to be rather pro-business, and decidedly anti-lawyer. However, in this case, I think this sets a terrible precedent. With a single stroke of a pen, any business can now make themselves completely immune to massive litigation, regardless of how richly it may be deserved. All it takes is a few extra lines in the EULA.
BS.
The Armalite was designed to use a hot, fast propellant. U.S. Army Ordinance, however, insisted upon using an older, slower propellant without any modifications to either the rifle or that older propellant. The results were predictable, but when was the last time a petty government bureaucrat ever gave a damn?
Frankly, I'm getting a little tired of all these "business-is-bad-government-is-good" sheep with their loose-leaf notebook versions of history.
It is very unlikely to be "another Chernobyl" in Red China, for two reasons:
1) Comparing Chernobyl's hideously obsolete design (literally, "squash court" obsolete!) to what the PRC is aiming for (pebble-bed) is like comparing a 1850s-vintage steam boiler to a gas turbine, and
2) The PRC has everyone else's experience to draw upon, and I'd like to think they're not as arrogantly stupid as the Soviets were.

Heh; that's like saying "there will be rain."
Face it; anywhere there's the least bit of money, there will be lawyers sniffing about.

This particular Google 'service' always struck me as a stalker's wet-dream.
Server Core, PowerShell . . . . Has anyone noticed how Windows has been looking more and more like Linux as of late?

Now go away, lest we mock you some more.

Microsoft Research thinks that with remote sensor networks, encryption, and other safety measures, lack of physical security won't be an issue.
Um, yup; don't work about security, the fanboyz will buy the crap anyway.
Sounds like business as usual at Microsoft.
