Each of these poor innocent protons was probably older than the earth itself, and yet we thoughtlessly slaughter countless billions of them for the sake of science. I urge all of you to join the CWFPP ( Complete Whackjobs For the Protection of Protons ).
I had the misfortune of buying one of their GPS units. Despite the fact that their support clearly acknowledged the defects the unit had from the day of purchase, Sony did not release a fix until 7 months later. Sony insists that I pay $99.95 to get that update. Needless to say, I no longer will buy Sony products.
I would, but thanks to the wonders of modern laser technology, I was able to have the "Sucker" tattoo removed from my forehead. More so than most subsystems. maintaining the TTY subsystem is particularly thankless and a very large target for abuse. In addition, it just isn't sexy. My ego could not take it for long. ( long being measured in femto-seconds )
Of course the fact that these patches allow Hyper V to run Linux more efficiently than virtualization systems can run Windows under Linux is a mere coincidence. I think it is a trap. That being said, there are valid patches and should be accepted. The community should demand that Microsoft also engineer Windows to run as efficiently under Linux virtualization systems.
The US spends more money on its military than the rest of the world put together. BTW, we fought against Japanese in the Aleutians during WWII. Last I looked, that was considered American turf. The F22 is not considered to be an effective weapon for the types of battle we are anticipating in the future. We are far better off using those funds for weapons that will actually be useful.
Most of Texas has its own grid, and is not very well connected with the neighboring grids. The cost of enabling that grid to distribute power to the rest of the country was far more than TBone expected. There are plenty of other places that are closer to the grid to locate his turbines.
I would rather have a number of small quakes rather than one large one. If this results in pressure being gradually released from a fault zone, I would consider it an asset, not a liability.

To think we used to use telnet and rlogin to access everything.
OpenSSH is a far more significant technology than it has gotten credit for.
Thunderbirds are go!
No longer does Microsoft enjoy an advantage hosting mixed VM's. I am sure the boys in Redmond are not amused. Kudos to the folks at RedHat.
I no longer drive into the city for anything I can get outside of Crook County. They have simply priced themselves out of the market.
I want the story of the ship the Nostromo found.

Time for all to give Alan a sound round of applause and thanks! The TTY subsystem is a gem thanks to his work.
Same here. It was blocked since this afternoon, but is reachable now from AT&T DSL outside of Chicago.
the population problem.

Vista has done more to promote the use of Linux in the Office than anything yet. We can only hope that Windows 7 continues this fine tradition.

It can use FreeBSD as a host O/S.
They would offer Windows 7 in a convenient suppository.
Assuming that a solution was properly engineered, this should not have been a surprise.
Cheap. power efficient, performance. Pick two.

More and more are taking the choice to default than ever before.
Let us all know how well that analog TV is working after today.
( For those who have been in a coma, today is finally the cutover day to DTV )
IRIX had its problems, but it still did things that Linux does not. I hope that Rackable decides to open source it.
A convenient snack on those long journeys across the galaxy.
The process starts with a single laser diode. The output of that is split and amplified to make the 192 beams. Pretty amazing when you think about it.
It would be interesting to come up with a metric that evaluated "real" work done under each platform. The numbers might be surprising.
