    Just because something has been in use for a long time doesn't mean it is in any way good.

    If you can extract the existing data and use it with a "newer" application, it may be a good thing.

    There should be some oversight concerning software purchasing/provisioning for a civil purposes.

    There isn't a real reason to have multiple municipalities using different software packages for the same purposes. This seems like a valid reason for state wide single sourcing.

    If you want to convince your "citizens" that they are fine, just censor the Internet. Seems to work fine for North Korea and China.

    That being said, censorship of the Internet should be treated as a crime.

    I feel like you have forgotten how important credit scores are in the US.

    If you add in "social scores" which I'm pretty sure are accounted for somewhere in your experian/credit karma,,, ratings, you may be a potential future recipient of unknown influences on your ability to make purchases on credit,

    I tend to prefer to buy based on my ability to pay in full at the time of the purchase. Especially when I can get a discount for paying in cash.

    I can see how both sides have a stake in this issue. It is the Starbucks prerogative to play music that supports the businesses overall goal of making money, however questionable their musical choices are (Hamilton soundtrack?!?), however, it's also important that the employees have the right to not work in a torturous environment.

    In this case, I propose that if Starbucks is going to loop repetitive music in their stores to the possible detriment to their employees, then Starbucks allow employees to wear discreet Bluetooth earbuds that play the music of their choice. There, win-win.

    How about noise cancelling blue tooth headphones? You could probably still hear orders.

    1) Is not that hard. When the GDPR came into effect, people feared that a lot of non EU sites would opt to simply block EU traffic instead of taking steps to comply. In practice I have only seen one such site... as it turns out, complying with the GDPR is not hard or costly for most sites, and for many it takes no effort at all. But this is different. I expect a lot of smaller operators to block EU access or at least block them from uploading anything.

    But this is much worse: it's a first step to a priori censorship. MEPs are already contemplating using these filters to also stop the spread of terrorist ideology. Which at some point will also include extremist views. Which at some point will also include populist views. Which at some point will also include "fake" news. Which of course already includes any opinion not "fitting the narrative" of those in charge.

    Well burning books to keep people ignorant doesn't work anymore. So this is the next worst thing they could do, /s?

    2) A large retainer for lawyers to issue copyright takedowns for any EU access to my comments on any social media, which I own the copyright to.

    Which is pretty much all I need to know. If I'm buying a phone at this price, it's going to be used for 5+ years which means nope.

  23. If you need to staff a phone 5 days a week, going to 4 days makes no financial sense, you're just a warm body we want to keep in the seat as long as possible for the least amount of money.

    In staffing requirements like this, not everybody has the same 4 work days.

    With my luck, I'd have off Wednesdays. /s

    The place before that I was working 60-80 hours in a 6 day work week, but at least I got overtime.
