    I once received a waterproof watch which was shipped in a container of water.

    If Samsung could create packaging that contained canvas shopping bags, it would be good. Organic stuff like paper is just one more carbon dump I'll recycle or burn in the backyard.

    Drones could also be useful in surveillance of high crime areas that have not deployed sufficient camera coverage.

    Not that anybody would ever take advantage of drones for their own personal/political gains.

    Yes, this true for me using a Roku. There is no power-off button/command and when you turn your TV off, you Roku continues streaming. For something like a Netflix movie at least it will stop after the movie ends. But some shows continue to next episode. You have to remember to stop streaming before you turn off your TV and tell your family members/guests to do the same

    I use a Harmony remote now (in three rooms) to send a 'Home' command during the power-off sequence. I hate source devices (Roku, Chromecast, Blu-ray players, etc.) who do not offer a direct power-off/standby command. I thought HDMI-CEC would solve the problem but it doesn't seem to and it creates a host of other problems as there are so many bad/incompatible implementations

    Haven't used Apple TV in a while but I think it behaves just like Roku.

    Back to the original article, yes, I have trouble staying below the 1 TB. Only two people in the house and using YouTubeTV as a service. I have to reduce video-resolution most of the time (not ideal). Cord-cutting is the reason.

    You could just plug these devices into a "smart" power strip, and have the strip disable devices it detects in standby mode.

    You could also do some local proxying to eliminate a ton of "fluff" that seems to be embedded in every web page nowadays.

    Fortunately my ISP currently doesn't have caps (it never has) but I still block ads until the capability is pulled from my cold dead browser.

    It's nice to control processes to turn out a consistent product. Well, unless it's Budweiser or Miller beer.
    I often enjoy a local brewery that's been in business for over 140 years, (with the exception of prohibition years) and their prices are better, and their beer (not to mention Octoberfest and bock beers) are so much better than the "Major" Breweries like BW and Miller. Especially on tap, much less in cans and bottles.

    there are mice and roaches running all over the place. Or if food falls on the floor, or if the expiration date of foodstuffs which has long since passed.

    So you have to monitor the cooks, and the facilities. Maybe even report when the manager is tapping a young worker on the food prep table.

    Removable SIM sockets are just one more thing the manufacturer has to pay for and one more reason to let the dirty customers actually remove the backplate and install one or two SIMs. /s

    Politics in the US should be about what is best for the country, not some personal/political grudges or egregious self interest/self promotion.

    If political parties have lost sight of that, voters should make their voices heard (loudly) If voters can't be bothered to fix this mess, they deserve their representation.

    I have 10 or so non localhost entries in my hosts file. My resolution (/etc/nsswitch.conf) order is files, dns so when my Internet is down, I can still get to my local resources for NAS/tv box/DB Server/Security robot... access.'

    What is the point of the identical twins (other than adding click-bait value)? Why not submit two samples from the same person under different names?

    They are reporters, identical twin reporters. You can't have only one of them getting credit.
