    To add to this, college is much more than what you learn there.

    Some other benefits:
    -Networking: both current students and alumni
    -time and resource management
    -experience in working in teams (especially how some can be slackers)
    -new friends who share interests
    -introduction to tools (machinery/software/ect)
    -experience writing technical reports and communicating technical details.

    I could see the drop in XP being in part to those that would regularly get their machine infested would switch to Win7 when they had to reformat their machine for the umpteenth time. These same poeple might be driving up the rates of Win7. Maybe 1 per 2000.

    You're missing that it's a joke for sticky. The screen increases resistance making it feel "sticky", it doesn't ooze any material onto the screen.

    After I heard the news on the radio on the drive into work. I was expecting some SPAM dealing with this. Whether it be a chain letter or links to bogus sites with promises of the picture. Guess I'm more of a realist than a cynic.

    For government correspondence? of course.
    Just use something else for everything else like you do now. Maybe set up e-mail forwarding so you don't always have to check it.

    We build giant shutters on the side of the sun that faces their system and open and close them to send out Morse code. Closer we get them to the sun, the smaller they need to be. Not sure how much thrust you would need though to hold position against the solar wind.

  25. I was thinking of writing a sci-fi story on Forget Space Travel, It's Just a Dream · · Score: 1

    In it Earth is ruined and humanity is taking a last gamble at survival. Robots are send out to terraform planets with AIs in charge of the mission. This is followed up by humans but as embryos. When the destination is reached, they would be placed in artificial wombs and then raised by robot care takers for the first generation. The main part of the story would be how that society turns out and how people that are raised by robots designed to mimic parents. I can't really think of plot elements to make the story interesting yet.

    There are many options that we would have imployed if we wanted to colonize other star systems. it's just that the drive for it doesn't exist.
