you could do the same with a wasp or an ant. Ants can carry many times their weight. And from the article, moths still have the tendency to go "towards the light" thus overriding the RC signals.

  6. Why Moths? on DARPA Creates Remote Controlled Insects · · Score: 2, Interesting

Why the hell are they using moths? If they want to weaponize insects, they should pick something like the honey bee. You only have to control one, make it sting your target, and then the rest of the hive will defensively respond to the sting alarm pheromones.

Or maybe pick a cockroach. Sure they don't do much, but they should be able to survive the nuclear holocaust.

Or pick a social insect like the ant and have it lay a "food here" trail to your enemy's food stockpiles. You control a few hundred ants and manipulate the actions of whole colonies. I think that controlling moths posses a "that's neato" aspect, but controlling a social insect could yield more interesting results.

I heard an interesting argument the other day. The proposal was to limit the Executives' salaries to X percentage above the lowest paid employee's salary. That way, For the CEO to get a raise, the lowest paid employees get a bump in pay too. This could make better business sense, but I don't think you can actually legislate CEO salary caps. Of course, if you're touching Federal money because you business can't float on it's own accord, perhaps you should be required to look at how you operate.
I don't like the idea of Federal involvement on how businesses operate, but I have a hard time convincing myself that a Laissez-Faire environment will encourage easily outsourced jobs to remain in the States. I especially have a hard time agreeing with handing out taxpayer dollars to businesses without any assurances or oversight on how it will be spent. I feel the issues with the economy comes from the CEO and Executive level, and now the Gov is trying to legislate ethics to force businesses to behave like they should have for the past few decades.
It's too late, the retirement money is blown, the national deficit is too great to create a ponzi scheme like Social Security. Fiscal security is lost for Baby Boomer generation and now it's up to the X and the Why generations to rebuild the American economy. This comes with education, hard work, and time--not legislature and government rebate coupons.

For $8 billion MS can probably make Aero run on 513 MB RAM and Pixel Shader 1.0 hardware.

I hope MS really takes notice of this for Windows7. Users are expecting to run premium content (Areo) on budget hardware, I think it would be worth Microsoft's time to clean up their code and make such enhancements as lightweight as possible. Either make the code run on everything or educate the end user on the real hardware requirements that make the shiny bits work.

IMHO, I feel that MS failed to educate the end user that the flashy stuff that they were seeing with Vista was Aero and Aero required a minimum chipsets X,Y,Z. Hardware vendors didn't help because they don't often advertise which low end components are installed in a laptop or if they are able to run things like Aero.

Perhaps Windows7 will be P3 compatible and will require a whopping 128mb of ram to prevent any stupid litigation.
