I tried to do some language processing. The only thing that resulted was a hatred of the English language. There are NO constancies. It's terrible, kudos to those poor souls that had to venture into the language to have a computer try and understand it.

Um, but why is the notion "Everyone should speak English" an american (As in they live in the US) thing. I mean...there are more people who are not US cits that speak English. So, should it be a ignorant Chinese thing? Or even worse, an Indian graduate student thing?
This blatant attack on just being American is getting old. When will you people learn that we all live together and work together. Please try and get out of your ignorance and work towards people working together rather then dumb stupid, pointless attacks on someone just because of their citizenship.

Now, you are comparing one country vs. a host of countries. Now, I'm not being all "OMG USA IS THE BEST", but, when you have to pit 27 countries against one, it's a bit unfair. Yes, I know it's one economy, but it's kinda like comparing a one man team vs. a multi-team. Of course it's going to be better. Let's compare apples to apples not apples to bushels.

It all depends on the kind of person the teacher is. In high school I had a CS class who the school board assigned an art teacher to. Yes, he was a digital art teacher as well. He didn't know how to program at all. So he genuinely tried his best, and it was a successful class, people who didn't know how to program learned something. My whole point it, it's not always the teacher fault. Sometimes the higher-ups like to watch their minions squirm...

It would be very difficult, if not impossible, for you to make it 100% (or anything close to 100%) gender neutral. You yourself most likely are constantly giving out the "correct societal gender norms", without even knowing that you are doing it. No T.V. or many children books, who does what in the house, school or even playing with other children their own age. The more I think about it, the more impossible it would seem. Children are trying very hard to find out where they fit in the world of the bigger people, so they are going to latch on anything that would direct them to how they should act. Unless you're in a special environment (Twin Oaks comes to mind), I doubt you're going to have much luck.

Do you really save that gas though? I don't think most of those people are just going to sit at home an do nothing. They're probably going to go shopping, go to Starbucks, and do errands. You're not really saving gas, just not going to work as often. Which I like, but that's beside my point.
