    Well, stress hormones might be partially responsible. It makes a certain Darwinian sense. We know that stress hormones shut down the immune system, and we know that the vagina is generally hostile to sperm anyway (I've no idea if the hostility of the vagina is the doing of the immune system, however). It's not implausible. In Christchurch, there has been a statistically significant rise in the number of twin births.

    I think you'll find that 5% is around the number of pregnancies that occur from consensual, unprotected sex. It's quite hard to become pregnant these days.

    You're right, the foetus is a human life, however, in most cases, the abortion would be performed before the foetus has the physical capability to feel pain, and cannot suffer. How is this punishment?

    It's over-fishing. You over-fish the fish that eat the phytoplankton that cause the build up of toxins. Then Some earthquake happens because of the level of toxins in the sea floor, which releases all the remaining toxins which kills all the fish... continuing the problem. I thought we were working on more aquaculture to provide solutions for this.

    It's interesting to see that he's deleted almost everything relating to it. I was on there last night and saw him threatening someone who posted on his wall that he'd contact the head of the poster's university and tattle on him. This man is a disgrace! Bullies have no place in public office, and this man responds to opposotion and critisicm with petty thuggery and censorship.

    What do you think monkeys in the wild do? When humans d it, we call it "lotus birthing". Look it up. At birth, the placenta contains roughly a third of the baby's total blood, and for some reason (no medical reason other than tradition) we cut it off. The placenta falls off by itself reasonably quickly, after it has finished transferring its blood to the baby.

    You're welcome to raise a red flag. What you're not welcome to do is arrest him, raid his home, abuse his wife, accost his workmates, and ruin his reputation based on a single red flag. When people act on insufficient evidence, they get into and create trouble, have we not yet learnt this as a race?

    I think everyone in this thread is rather missing the point. Yes, this new product takes energy to make. Yes, using this product as an active solution to increasing atmospheric CO2 levels may be silly, but what if we used it passively?

    What if this product or a product like it simply replaced our current default plastics? What if everything currently made out of plastic was replaced by some kind of 'useful' plastic? What if your food jars were carbon neutral? What if cars, which are mostly plastic these days, took pollution off the road?

    Of course it takes energy to manufacture something like this, but we're already spending energy making something like this, something that isn't quite as environmentally useful.

    9/11 happened because we had American troops in the Holy Land (Saudi Arabia). That's it. Iran only hates us because we're involved in the middle east.

    Ooh, that's good. Did you tell that to Iraq, Iran, Afghanistan, Lybia, etc etc? What about America now? If someone realises they've gotten into trouble, shouldn't they have the ability to ask for help out of it? Not everyone is as all-knowing as you clearly are.

    The australian government tried that. They had a massive advertising campaign to let everyone in the country know that you could get free internet-blocking software. About 14 were ever requested in the 2 or three years it was available. That is of course, why they think it's a good idea to just block the whole internet... because it's obviously the will of the people.

    I see what you're saying, but I'll give you an example of what I consider a legitimate use for it (because I did it).

    I discovered two of my friends were also friends with each other, so I glanced at their "friendship" to try to get a quick impression of how well they knew each other.

    It was pure curiosity on my part, but I do understand how it could be used for evil.
