I used to stress out about this too, as I really enjoy the surprises. I've found the key is to write a script that takes MEDIA_PLAYER_HDD_SIZE of random files from your PC and writes them to your iPod while docked overnight. That way you can enjoy randomizing your huge 100GB collection and still fit it on a non-bulky MP3 player which has plenty of room for 1 days' music.
How much does the data transfer rate shine as far as application loading?
For example, loading something beefy like Outlook or Evolution with some data in it? Maybe Photoshop or the GIMP? I'd kill for a machine that could do near instantaneous app loading.
If energy prices continue to rise, people won't want to commute from the new McBurbs. Don't you think people will just demand the government bail them out rather than abandon the suburban lifestyle?
Getting them into the Wikia fold helps feed the new "Google killer" search engine project. Jesus, are they planning something like this? Maybe they should fix the damn search on Wikipedia first, its absolutely terrible compared to any site search I've ever seen.
There is simply no incentive for any one individual not to pollute -- one person's pollution, no matter how bad, is usually not going to affect the rights of others. But in a country of 300 million individuals, of course widespread pollution will affect everyone's rights! There is no solution to this problem that does not involve society as a whole somehow coercing the individual -- in other words, regulation."
You have obviously done no research into the Libertarian party.
If you have a factory up-stream of me and you're making the water toxic, I get people from further downstream together and we first ask you to stop. If you refuse we take it to the media and hurt your profits.
Are you serious? What about the fact that the factory makes products for sale nationwide, and most people couldn't be arsed to care that your 8,000 person hamlet is being served by a toxic river because they are getting their widget for $20 cheaper than the competing brands at LiberMart?
Who lives downstream of a factory that pollutes the air? How about one that dumps in the ocean?
I don't understand why you think people will give a shit enough not to buy the factory's goods until its way too late.
I would argue that porn is different, though, as it can be an embarrassing purchase. Thus, internet distribution is much more attractive, and much more likely to kill the brick+mortar shop than distribution of the latest pop CD via iTunes.
I used to suck at that toilet-door minigame too, until I had the revelation to return to the center after each hit, preparing you with minimum distance when you go for the next one.
As I recall, and I played a lot of PC San Andreas, it was gimped (somewhat) by being written for the PS2.
Changing the character's clothes, or shopping for guns, food, whatever was an awful excersize in console texture loading. Also the menus didnt allow mouse input.
and PC Vice City was plagued by PS2 shit like cars that disappear when you turn your field of vision away from them. I don't remember that happening as much in San Andreas.
Trauma Center for the Wii had a relatively easy learning curve but a lot of depth IMO. You really needed to plan and strategize to have a shot at even beating the later challenges, let along getting anything above a "C" ranking.
did the game actually hint at the dodging of lighting, etc, for these weapons? I went through the game and never stumbled across any of that! Or are they just assuming everyone uses FAQs these days so they can be lazy about game design?
I have no qualms with the company.. I was one of their best customers...
But 100 software developers? What were you all doing? Surely not working on that affront to web design! Yeesh was that a user-unfriendly site. I mean randomly greyed-out desposit options, lack of status information on where your deposit and withdrawal was.
I'm wondering if it really chomped the fingers OFF, or if they just got caught. The article doesn't really seem to say. I have a hard time thinking they'd design a mechanism powerful enough to sever a finger.
I still contend it comes down to pricing. You need to price it like a supermarket vegetable, not like a drug. If you could get high off of tomatoes, for instance, I don't think that many people would bother growing their own if you still could get them for $1.99 a pound at the local Safeway.
Now in reality, I'm sure with coporate greed+tax it would come to some ungodly amount for an ounce of weed, but hopefully the market would sort it out.
You can grow your own perfectly good tomatoes, peppers various herb seasonings in a planter on your porch too, yet most people seem perfectly content buying them at the supermarket. I really think most people would pay for the convience of prepackaged marijuana. Just price it right, like a plant at the market.
Now if you try and charge people $20 for fractions of ounces, well sure they'll say fuck you.
It's been many many years, but I can't help but recall that AOL didn't bill you for the time "downloading new art". Are you sure you're remembering this correctly?
Honest question, as I'm looking for a laptop to run linux on. Does your Acer sleep and hibernate well when closing the lid? Then return to a non crashed OS (without 5 minutes of loading time?) Every laptop I've tried to install linux on has had nonstop ACPI issues.

what is a "track home"?

who did you work for?
But Secret of Evermore was a really fun game, albeit a little buggy.

How is 200mg considered "too much" (and by whom)? If the recommended intake is somewhere in the range of 1600-2400mg/day?

Vowels are homosexual? I guess that explains all the Xbox-Wii fighting amongst the youths.
Why don't they call that a 4E game?
Shea? is that you?

How about the UK Times then? Or the Times of Britian?
