defines e-mailing hyperlinks as equivalent to photocopying a document
Linking does not equal photocopying.
That has to be the worst analogy ever.
Wonderful how they think they can define things themselves (kind of like how they define infringement as "theft"). I can define black as white, but it doesn't make it so.
Student: Hey, those two books you were looking for? I saw one at the library, and the other at the book store.
Copyright police: Hey, he's just shared two links. That's two counts of infringement!!
Get rid of all the crap that is not part of the show. Logos, ads onscreen, etc.
My TV watching reduction started when they appeared. Recently I watched something (unusual for me) on TV and about a third or more of the screen was blocked by an ad. Next thing I know, there's people walking around in the ad. Very annoying.
I don't know why anyone would watch and put up with that kind of crap.
I've pretty much sworn off Ubisoft forever anyway when they started this crap... but even if I didn't, I would still not buy their game... I have to spend a lot of time away from the net (which is when I need games the most!), so continuous connection or just when you start makes no difference. I just can't use it. No point in handing over money for something that doesn't work.
Was bad enough when:
The internet connection is down. / I am not in wifi range. / I am at a remote location...
and
I can't play my game / surf the net.
MS decided: ...and I can't use my computer for anything!
is the future of the PC.
I'd love to see a law that says:

able to identify the content, whether it's live TV or another source, like a DVD.
TV: It looks like you are trying to watch a DVD. Please hold the receipt up in front of the camera to verify ownership to proceed.
User holds up the receipt.
TV: Verifying... please wait while I contact the authorization server.
TV: Unable to access the verification server at this time. Playback paused. Please standby.
[Hours pass]
TV: Connected to authorization server... The receipt is valid, but the credit card number does not match your facial record. Playback terminated. *IAA contacted. Please remain where you are with your hands on your head until authorities arrive.
It's a license when it suits them, and a single purchased item when that suits them... some sort of hybrid I suppose they figure.
Same with all the "Own it now on DVD!" commercials... then they say you don't own it, you licensed it, and the license doesn't allow you any right to do much of anything with it.
One, near Windsor, seems to serve no purpose at all, beyond complicating things. Almost never any traffic there, why even bother?
Another is at the top of an exit ramp from a major highway, and I rarely see anything there either. Seems pointless, unless spending lots of tax money was the goal.
The most recent, is in New Minas, and there is a lot of traffic there. For the moment, almost all traffic is on one road, and almost zero on the crossing road. This seems to be teaching motorists that they don't even need to yield. It's scary if you are turning. And when traffic is heavy, it just stops, and no one can get in on the side at all unless someone lets them. It takes up a lot more space than a normal intersection, yet is still small enough to be a tight turn, with wavy roads coming in and out. And it has two lanes in this tight circle. And on one exit, the outer lane has a telephone pole in the middle of it. It's been months, and no sign of them taking it out.
Lots of vandals have been caught in photos, but soon criminals like these will simply use an IR device to to activate new features patented by Apple to disable everyone's cameras.
The wife just got a new laptop, it has win7 on it. I can honestly say I hate it. Change for the sake of change isn't cool. Can't seem to customize it the way I like it. (It was rather convoluted in XP, but at least I could do it.) The whole thing seems horrible to me. Takes up too much valuable screen space too. Win8 seems to increase that trend. At least the "close window" button is still in the right place!
My wife's new laptop came with Win7, and so far "I hate it" barely scratches the surface about my feelings for it. Can't seem to customize it in any way that makes it more convenient. I just cringe every time I have to do something on it.
Her brother wanted her to get an Apple. She wanted to stick with something she was familiar with. She may as well have gotten an Apple.
I mean if there are simpletons in charge of these cameras they wouldn't be outright abusing people's rights would they? No. They simply aren't clever enough.
We need them, so when some idiot on their cell phone falls into a fountain, we all get a laugh on You-Tube.
"That it is better 100 guilty Persons should escape than that one innocent Person should suffer, is a Maxim that has been long and generally approved." -- Benjamin Franklin
Although I am definitely against the Big Brother society that we are becoming, I have to say, if 100 guilty persons escape, the probability is that more than one innocent person will suffer!
My wife's WinXP laptop died recently. Her brother suggested she get an Apple. She didn't want one, found her mom's confusing. Wanted to go with what she was used to. Unfortunately, the new laptop had Win7 on it, and she has been trying to get used to that. I find it seems a lot like Apple (I admit my experience with Apple and Win7 has been limited.) In ways I don't like. Win7 seems like a huge step backwards in user friendly-ness. I can't customize the start menu like I did in XP. The menu seems to be a disaster. The taskbar seems confusing, pointing at an icon and looking at pictures seems slower than finding what you were using in XP. I don't much care for the combining of the "quick launch" and the taskbar icons. Maybe sounds like a lot of "Get off my lawn!", but if your wife is used to XP, you may be screwed no matter what!! (On that note, new versions of Office (what for?) are confusing as hell too!)
So, there's only one button for the power window?
Yeah, press it and the window goes down.
What if I want it to go up?
Press Fn and the window button and the window goes up.
OIC. There's only one button for the power locks?
Yeah, press it and the door unlocks.
What if I want to lock the door.
Press Fn and the door lock button and the door locks.
Why is there only one pedal?
Depress the pedal to accelerate. Hold down Fn and depress the pedal to stop. Duh!
Is it my imagination, or do launch failure rates for "environmental" satellites seem higher than others? Someone still trying to cover up global warming?
The Kessel Run area is full of black holes. Shorter runs could be had by flying closer to the black holes. To risk going closer, you had to be flying faster.
A few years back, I had "up to 5M" service and "up to 10M" was offered for additional money or if you had a bundle. When I moved, I got the bundle and therefore got the "up to 10M" service. But my previous "up to 5M" service was faster than my new "up to 10M" service. Key words: "up to".
It's always been a rip-off!

'After all, 10 hours of awesome is better than 20 hours of boring.'
And 20 hours of awesome is better than 10 hours of awesome... good grief, compare apples to apples please!
Exactly!

I know of three built in the last few years.

Lunacy!

When you go to the theater you have to get RFID chipped, and if the scanners lose the internet connection, the movie won't play.

Since when does the government have a right to monitor the movements of an entire city's population when 99% have probably done nothing wrong.
Just you wait... if you watch closely enough long enough, everyone will be found to have done something wrong!
They don't need to make it even more crappy!
And clearly bank robbers should be hired to create bank security... it only makes sense.
But wouldn't you have to, you know, ingest the water into the body somehow to receive the full dose, not just be next to it?
In "Half Life", you are okay as long as you don't step in it.
The United Corporations of America (formerly USA) do not need or want the citizens to be smart. It only needs them to be consumers.

"Film your own movies"/"Write your own books"/"Build your own games"/"Perform your own music" will be the response of the copyright conglomerates.
I doubt it. They think user generated content boosts piracy.
