I will never understand the "there can't be life there because most of the life from our planet couldn't survive there" argument. I think it's perfectly reasonable that life could evolve elsewhere without water. In fact, quite likely. Life will adapt to the conditions from which it emerges, not seek to replicate life on earth.

On the other hand, if we can reach the Shadow Proclamatino of Judoon (or the equivalent) we may be granted some form of protection. Hopefully, this protection will take the form of David Tennant.

At our local Borders, my wife happily picked up a "dvd" from the dvd shelf. She bought it and had the outer packaging off by the time she realized that it was blu-ray. We went back into the store and found that out of an entire wall of dvds, the movie she had picked was the only blu-ray title. Since the outer packaging was off, Borders initially refused an exchange for a dvd of the same title (which they had displayed somewhere else entirely, instead of on the dvd wall). They claimed (probably truthfully) that even though we had bought it five minutes previously, with the packaging off, they couldn't "return" it or resell it. I politely refused to budge and they eventually let us exchange - their solution for themselves was simply to put the blu-ray version on the "defective shelf."

    Boo blu-ray.

Why on earth would I want to buy a blu-ray player? Our dvds work fine and look great on our crappy, ancient TV.

And believe me, the media did not get behind Kerry, other than maybe to tell his campaign and 48% of the country to bend over. The media isn't left or right, liberal or conservative. The media is corporate - which is its own interest.

As a liberal (who tends to vote Democratic Party), I vote based on what I believe is right - not on what I believe is the most likely to win over the majority of Americans. If the majority of Americans aren't willing to support women, workers, gays, and minorities, I'm not going to respond and say "oh well, then we'd better not support their rights either."
