Teaching proper language skills to students is a job requirement.

Requiring a teacher to teach a without an accent is appropriate where the students are learning the language. That is why schools ask for native Spanish speakers to teach Spanish.

One picks up accents that they are exposed to. Do you want students learning "proper" language? Of course when teaching post secondary, it is not important as the language skills are solidified.

It is a defensive act when going up against large companies with large litigation budgets and large patent portfolios.

If you have a company with a product and doing business that sues Apple, then Apple will just file a bunch of patent claims against you whether or not they are valid. They have so much money, they think nothing of litigating an opponent into bankruptcy using bogus claims and junk patents. If Apple would have someone who finds a phone at a bar arrested, why wouldn't they try to litigate someone into bankruptcy?

  13. It is very rare. on Patent Troll Lawyer Sanctioned Over Extortion Tactics · · Score: 2

From what I have seen, Rule 11 sanctions are very rarely imposed. I have several cases improperly removed to federal court, and the code provides for attorney fees and costs for improper removal. The Court consistently refused to impose those costs.

This is similar to the rules which prohibit attorneys for committing perjury. I had seen one case where the tentative ruling, written by the law clerk, state that there was no 998 offer sent, despite the sworn statement by defense counsel. The final ruling was unchanged except the finding that the attorney lied.

It takes a lot for the Court to rule against an attorney.
