    Actually they wanted a two speed transmission but every attempt failed. This is why the top speed is limited in the Tesla.

    Gear boxes for electric cars are pretty unique because of ratios and torque requirements. Think back ot the several years work to develop a two speed transmission that ultimately failed.

    I would be very surprised if Oracle haven't already gotten rid of any expensive dead weight and the ones that have remained are there for good reason.

    I've trained myself to go in the morning before showering. I haven't used a public toilet (at least sitting) for years.

    People have been running dual boot or Wine since Linux came out. Putting conspiracy theories aside, maybe Microsoft did this because it answers a lot of use cases for a number of users?

    It's funny that you bring up Henry Ford, he realized the need to share with the workers for the good of the economy. (my workers should be paid enough to afford one of my cars) to paraphrase. Since the 80s 'greed is good' has turned employment into a zero sum game and the FED has done everything they can to stave off deflation. They will fail eventually....

    My mid 80s cds went completely to poop in about 15 years. I have 50's era records that play as good as the day they were pressed.

    A heliostat would take up 2/3 of the gigafactory site and could be used for nothing else. Solar panels are easy to sprinkle around building etc without making the property useless.

    Heliostats don't scale down very well. It takes a crew of people to keep them running. Solar installations are set it and forget it and the depreciation very easy to calculate.
