They only raised the price 60% on some plans. Mine was about $24 or so (with tax) with 3 out, streaming, + Blu-Ray. I think it's going up about $4. Hardly 60%.
But if the competitors start cheating (like with steroids) or using sabotage (like Nancy Kerrigan), audiences don't like that, and if it happens too much, the sport starts losing audiences and falling apart (like baseball).
Sorry, but baseball has been increasing attendance the last 3 years and has recently broken its all time attendance records. Your analysis of baseball is simply not true.
They shouldn't leave, they should just stop censoring all traffic and then make China go through the effort of blocking them. They look like even more of the good guys then.
The thing I haven't seen mentioned is that many releases are still vinyl only. Many songs/artists never got complete or very good CD releases of their music. That is the biggest reason I've recently bought a turntable. It's to hear music I have no other way of acquiring. But this happens with new artists as well with limited edition 7" singles with a b-side you can't find anywhere else. Much of the regional music you used to hear back 40-50 years ago never made it to CD either.
So, 80-90% of CFLs are used in hot, cold, humid or dimmer situations? Maybe in your home, but not the rest of the world. Many homes don't even have dimmers.
What about a Flip HD camera is crappy? Have you ever used on or seen the quality you get for a device that fits easily in your pocket? I'm guessing you haven't.
The quote about "at an unhurried pace" was not about innovation at all if you follow the link. It was about fixing a particular issue, which has nothing to do with innovation. Tivo has definitely innovated more than any other DVR I have seen. The person posting this obviously doesn't like Tivo for some reason, or has it out for all patents in general. I think it is pretty obvious Tivo has had its patents stepped on by the big players in the industry.
It's actually really sad... Google has built an innovative platform for distributed computing, that solves quite a few problems, vastly superior to the state of the art in distributed computing, but they basically keep the filesystem and clustering implementations completely to themselves, it would seem.
And here I thought they were a publicly traded company trying to make money...
And for aesthetic reasons, they need to be placed in fairly remote locations away from urban centers, which reduces efficiency.
Wrong. There are new designs besides the standard windmill type that can be placed atop tall building and skyscrapers. I saw them on the Green Channel where it looks more like a DNA structure that spins. It also protects against throwing ice and such off of it and is actually more efficient in the types of wind that cities receive (which whip around in different directions).
Your argument just doesn't add up. Plus if you add enough wind and solar then you do create a baseline. There is always some wind and some sun somewhere.
Based on his power bills on all times other than the summer, it seems like he should have installed another panel or two. He could potentially have sold back the power during the summer months and had less utility bills during the winter. Since his energy pricing is tiered, it would make sense to knock off the high-end of use as much as possible.
Man, I hear you.
I had a girl sending me half-nude pics of her, and talk dirty via ICQ, because she deliberately wanted to get my dick hard.
And then when she succeeded, my boss came in, and asked me to stand up and come with him.
Where do you work that your boss wants you to COME with him? A porn studio?
The link is really light on the math. In most systems that obey similar behavior, demand does increase, but the increase in demand does not completely erase the benefit of the increase in efficiency. In this case it can't completely erase the benefit, because if it did the end result would be a net increase in the price - and that was the original basis for the argument, that the drop in price would spur consumption. So the increase in demand has to fall short of that point.
I agree. Also, their math is implying that by 2016 we will be driving 30% more miles. I find that rather hard to believe, especially with exurb and suburban sprawl slowing down in the housing recession.
Parent is totally right! It's not how much this costs them, but how much are they making off it that you can not easily monetize. They are driving users to their site as well.
How much does Yahoo Finance cost to operate daily? That doesn't earn any money either. It's a portal, that's the point.

That's what she said.
I don't think they ever had them in the bottles, just the cans.
Landlines can be used to determine your whereabouts as well.
Tell them your home address is 1060 W Addison, Chicago, IL (yeah, that one's kinda lame, copying SNL is good only for laughs).
I think you mean the Blues Brothers, not SNL.
The name only suggests to me that they need a naming convention instead of just mashing the keyboard each release.
I just approved the upgrade from IE6 to IE8 using WSUS yesterday. It feels good to get that done...

Make no mistake--this is war, and China is winning because we refuse to even admit it.
China doesn't admit it either...

I've never had to wait in line to use one of these boxes so to infer that is actually a step in the process every time is misleading.

I second this! X-Wing and Tie Fighter were great games!

Who do I root for on this one?
Just like in the Sopranos, you go to the Bing to see naked ladies.
It's not a purse, it's European!
