    This reminded me of a comment when I first started working where I work ow. I would almost always do lunch with the same woman (let's call her Anne). Finally, a co-worker worked up the nerve in the elevator and said "People are starting to talk about you and Anne. You guys are always doing lunch out of the building together." Without missing a beat I said "And I already have a key to her place!" Thier jaw dropped but after the awkward pause I said "She is my sister-in-law." We just happened to work on the same floor of the same building.

    That is the reason I have stopped buying games. Other things are also taking up more of my time - stuff that *gasp* I actually interact with other humans!

    Just because it turns out that Saddam had nothing to do with 9-11 doesn't mean it's not our reason for being there.
    So why are we there? The human siutation in Africa was/is worse. N Korea SAYS it has nukes. Why did we go? What was the good enough reason for causing all the death and destruction?

    Maybe you have some insight most people don't.... care to share?

    Likewise... and I haven't really missed it. I KNOW I am getting better quality stuff from other plaes. In fact, I can't recall the last time I went to Wal-Mart and went in. I was with a friend the other day who just wanted to stop in (during lunch) and I said I'd wait in the car. It eventually lead to a discussion about Wal-Mart and now they don't shop there anymore.

    Our company is on its way of moving out all our Netware servers and moving to a completely MS based environment. Sad to see us go that way. I have said my piece over and over but to no avail. Now all I can still fight for is Oracle on Unix vs MS SQL. We ever go that way I am going to have to update my resume. Our computer room is a nightmare with a bazallion Dell servers all running MS something or other...

    Nah... they are trying to scam you. I have a $5000 check from the Bank of Washington hanging on my wall as a trophy. The buyer said he would send a US check and I was to send the item and a check back of the difference (my stuff was about $2000). I said no thanks but still got a check mailed to me. Is the check legit? Dunno, the Bank of Washington (a US bank) won't verify a check unless the sender and the receiver are on a conference call at the same time. So I have a trophy. Cool envelope with a lot of stamps from Nigeria too.

    Yes, we use Citrix in all of our hospital envronments. it has stopped the vicious upgrade cycle that fatter versions of MS products required. Now if I could just work to use OO instead of MS Office we'd really be saving.

    is an engine that can help a DM design thier own world for others to play in. Heck that is what D&D is all about. D&D gave you the books and you developed the world. Sure you could buy a world that the D&D creators fleshed out but I always enjoyed creating my own. If I could just get an AI engine for NPCs and monsters, graphics, and whatever building blocks I need to create my own world. THAT would be cool. Then I could host my world on a dedicated PC off of my high speed internet and control the number of users that come in....

    I, too, was in Orlando last week (SAP Admin 2005 conference). I told my co-conference attendies that I was going to blow off the conf if the shuttle was going to launch during a day I was there. That is also the reason I got a car...

    I was in a combat engineering group (ariborne!), had secret clearance, and was in charge of many men and equipment. My squad would often play D&D or other RPGs during down time. I think it helped us to think outside the box and come up with unique solutions to the problems presented to us during military exercises. In fact, it got so the whole platoon used to play Squad Leader (and other board games) along with my squad.

    I think it has to do more with being creative and maybe anti-establishment. My squad (and I) would often ruffle brass when we did something that worked and worked well BUT wasn't by the book.

    Oh well, that was 20 years ago. Now the US Army just wants bodies...
