My new baby has no flaw! She's... she's... She's flawless. Like a virgin diamond in a filed of wheat! Like that freshly installed kernel posting dmesg on a snow white day! Like princess leia before she was mack'n on her brother.
I wonder if this covers partnerships Yahoo! has with other companies.
Being from Canada, Yahoo! has partenered with Rogers to incorporate features like LaunchCast into high speed internet service bundles. I know this is the only thing I currently use IE for as LaunchCast won't support anything but IE... boo-urns.
He didn't evene live in Ontario at the time of the publications which tarinshed his reputation... I under stand sueing the paper, even winning a suit for defamation of character (based on the fact that the allegations have no foundation). Winning the suit because "Those who publish via the Internet are aware of the global reach of their publications, and must consider the legal consequences in the jurisdiction of the subjects of their articles"... that's just insane.
I better go check my website and tear down and defaming thing that I've ever said and anyone... oh my god, the insanity of living in Ontario!
I once tried something like this with ICEcast/ShoutCAST and a bunch of less-known streamers/players. This one would have the p2p advantage but does it really play them in sync?
Every player/steamer I used would play songs 'at the same time' but you they weren't in sync so one source would sound upto 5 seconds ahead/behind of the next.
Canadian's have essentially avoided most of the litigation involved with downloading copywrited music and other media as the government has levied tax on all blank media. The monies collected are 'redistributed to artists'.
So, while some people might think this ruling is a great idea - it's really not. While it might not be illegal to download and copy the music to CD (taxed media), will your flash stick now be considered an illegal media to hold your downloaded songs?
Take it one step further - untaxed iPod users are arrested with 'up to 2500' accounts of copywrite infringement... I can't wait to see the Canadian Apple-hating cops in full riot gear trying to quell the next generation of iTunes users.
Using kinetics... I mean, watch manufacturers use it already... How much trouble would it be to put that into a mouse? Maybe I'll make it my weekend project:-)
Seriously though, the average person never spots a mouse on the screen before it moves... hence, the extra moves to 'find the pointer' and every subsequent movement could be used to charge the mouse.
I _REALLY_ don't think this is the issue... I mean, do you have any idea how hard it was to bring the internet (let alone broadband) to Newfoundland? I was one of the first people with broadband on the island and that was somewhere around 96-97... I mean tell me, how's Hawaii or Nantucket doing, does anyone know?
Putting aside the area just North of the Great Lakes, the Canadian population is far from being clumped together.
Canada has great broadband internet penetration for several reason. The main ones being that since there are very few choices for broadband, the networks grow bigger & faster then if they were competing with a bunch of major players.
Also, there was an article on/. back on Nov. 21, 2000 when the Canadian Gov. put Broadband on a list of 'essential services' for quality of life... This makes it cheaper for individuals and businesses to afford...
Gee, ya know, I think these guys finally figured it out... in one week they've tracked users, sued them and even started looking at emerging technologies too see what hazard they might pose... all in ONE week! Talk about waking up from the stone age...

If you're going to make an April fools joke you might as well spell President right.

Just food for thought.
