    If you are speaking of mp3s, this is actually a fairly hard problem to solve perfectly due to the fact that the gaps are part of the mp3 itself. However, the Rio Karma I guess solves it all right.

    Perhaps, long extremely thin wires running everywhere have a very high resistance? (As I'm sure everyone knows, thinner wires have higher resistance than thicker wires of otherwise similar characteristics) Make the interconnects shorter and there is less resistance, less power used, and less heat to disperse. Still, cooling a sheet of something is harder than cooling a block of something.

    Cooling fans could come with an active noise control system to help. You know what RPM they operate at, you know what sound they make, so you can help cancel it out.

    is that the heat from the machine will adversely affect the battery. The laptop I am typing now has a cleverly placed battery that is away from the most heat producing components, and remains fairly cool. Fun idea still.

    They do in the residential halls, but it's a bad idea in general to start blocking stuff campus wide with a firewall. It tends to block legitimate things and people rightfully cause a stir. Yes, simply blocking things happens a lot at your more fascist universities.

    Photoshop has absolutely nothing to do with Core Image. It doesn't use it, and according to Adobe never will. Applications do not magically start using it.
