  1. mirror with my modem on NASA BlueMarble: Next Generation · · Score: 4, Funny

I set up a 386 to mirror the 22 gigs of data with my 56k modem connection right here. Not too many at once, please

Like regular HD... but the H stands for half I suppose. QVGA format, a measily 324x2480

  4. Finally! on Splashpower Boasts Wireless Power · · Score: 1

At last the technology of electric toothbrushes from the '80s today in our handheld devices!

  5. What Contrast Ratio Is on Sharp LCD Display with 1,000,000:1 Contrast Ratio · · Score: 2, Informative

Most people have the wrong idea about contrast ratio. It doesn't neccesarily mean the display is extra bright. It most likely means the black is really friggen black. It is the ratio of the brightness of the white pixel to the brightness of the black pixel. Ever notice how black isn't really black on an LCD display, it's kind of lit up? That's a low contrast ratio for you. Read more at wikipedia.

  6. .exe is a movie container format? on Dreadnought Demos Released · · Score: 3, Informative

No, I didn't think so. Does anyone even use Windows around here? Right, so why post links to .exe movies?

  8. Not enough quotes in TFA on Music Industry Threatens to Pull Plug on Apple · · Score: 1
A Warner Music executive has threatened to cut off Apple if Steve Jobs continues to refuse to give ground on iTunes Music Store pricing.

Okay, what did he actually say and in what context? This reeks of sensationalist journalism. Of course, I'm sure I'll be modded down for not going along and saying "WTF EVIL RIAA!!" along with the rest.
  9. Re:Bad news on Spider-Man 3 Villains: Sandman & Venom · · Score: 1

  11. This article kind of stinks... on Music Exec Fires Back At Apple CEO · · Score: 1

The "firing back" seems like exactly what was said a while ago, yet this is supposedly a new article. Was something new really said by any of the recording industry, or is this just more regurgitation? Anyone have a real article? I really don't give a crap what "analysts" think.

  12. The problem here... on Music Exec Fires Back At Apple CEO · · Score: 1

...is that they keep referring to their artists' music as "content" or "product". It just sums up their whole attitude.

  13. Re:The Microsoft Trap on Anders Hejlsberg on C# 3.0 · · Score: 1

I've been writing C# for about 6 months now and have not touched Microsoft software. What you say? That's right, I've been using Mono.

  14. nano battery? on iPod nano, iTunes 5, iTunes Phone · · Score: 0

So, 14 hours of music playback time... wonderful! Now how do I replace the battery when it gets old? I'm sick of this behavior from iPod products.

  15. it's great! on WoW Helping or Hurting the Industry? · · Score: 1

As a game dev, it's great for the industry! Most of the game devs I know are off playing WoW instead of making a game to compete with mine!

  18. Re:physics is here to stay on Carmack's QuakeCon Keynote Detailed · · Score: 4, Interesting

As a game developer, I'll say it'll come sooner than you think. Engines such as Unity will support Aegia's PPU when it comes out as it already uses the Novodex engine. From there it would take about 15 minutes to set up, tops. Expect some awesome things to come from little Indie developers.

  19. Re:Logitech MX1000 on Review of Apple's "Mighty Mouse" · · Score: 1

The 360 scroll would be useful for 3D applications, and the Logitech mouse is right-handed.

  21. Re:Konfabulator ?? on Yahoo Purchases Konfabulator · · Score: 2, Informative

True, but most /. summaries don't explain what they are talking about. Take the previous story about FreeBSD for an example. Then it just comes down to a point of view about what the vast majority of readers already know about. So, that's just like, your opinion, man.
