Well taking that things like sendmail can send 1,000,000 mails and hour with the right spec its not overally surprising as they platform is quick and stable. Of course all spammers should be spit roasted.
Does bingpond intercept all SMTP connections? If not wouldn't it just be possible to buy a small hosting accounts with AUTH-SMTP and send out via that. The other choice would be to just setup an SSH tunnel on a non-standard port and tunnel to another SMTP server
Does anyone know which pre the fix might be in? I ask as for UML there are some precompiled kernels and just trying to find out if it would be quicker/easier
How do they check for outages. IF I'm going from A->B for the first time and suddenly the route drops or changes surely that changes the map. So any idea of how many times they check a route?
"In case a piece of debris is big enough to threaten damage, the spacecraft are directed to a safer orbit."
Am I the only worried by this in that if there is a bit of junk they have to move. Surely if we keep polluting space then there eventually won't be another orbit.
If there was a bit of junk on the freeway it would be picked up and moved and in space we just avoid it
Least it wasn't a micro meteroite which would of just punctured the ISS and caused massive decompression. Of course floating around where the only way down is 100 mile fall isn't an overally comforting idea
It was definitly noticable as our customer reported
1) Website traffic down at least 30% 2) Around 75% packet loss from the EU -> US 3) Slow delivery of email
Basically it caused a massive amount of headaches and you have to wondered WTF didn't they fix the first problem when it came up. Its like running a RAID Array on one disk.
Well least things seem to sort of be getting back to normal
OK so having not to carry cash around is nice in prinicpal. Same as not having to carry keys or a mobile but how far should this go? It should be my choice if I want to have some for of gadget that can handel all this. Peronally I would much rather see something like a medical bracelet which could be hard to get off (To stop theft). Prehaps have an unlocking device at home.
The basic thing is that it should be my choice of what I have on me and when. Ease of use in regard to my privacy. I think I know which camp I would sit in
While I agree that OO does have some problems its got 99% of the funtionality most people need i.e. spell checking, basic formatting. Of course if you are going to start trying to link to DB sources it might fall over. However with it starting to get some exposure it might help to get some extra development money to fix all those little bugs
