Basically it looking like this are some kick ass machine in the power area with fast CPU's, Inbuilt RAID good graphics. However they get a bit to warm for comfort and way a tone. Would like to have one, need to be a little bit cheaper.
Well I've been using the 2.6 series for about the last 3 months on my desktop. Not had one crash and its been under heavy load. Definitly shaping up well.
Taking that the article says that landlords take it out of the deposit I guess not much. It might just not be worth the effort after employing someone to do it
I can't RTFM so I will just say that if you look at some of the mess that companies actually leave such as old cat5 cables 1/2 hanging out the walls as well as some of the under floor.
I did work at a DC once where to lay in new cable under the floor you had to physically have someone to push other cables aside so you could get another cable in. There was meant to be 3 ft of room between the tiles and the concrete floor. IT was all full of cables.
They had a lot of downtime as each time your moved one cable it ended becoming disconnected from the switch or the machine. Soon went bust
"I think 2004 is going to be a big year for Fedora and Suse, and a challenge for Debian (because Fedora now offers apt for RPM)."
Well apart from the fact that apt for rpm has been around for a while and also debian packages usually come configured a lot better than fedora are aren't as buggy.
Of course with the recent Debian security breach things might not be that easy
Where is the Amstrad PC1512. At one time it had 25% of the PC market. OK so it was a bit strange with custom slots but it worked well, had colour graphics. Very good machine for its day. Also it had GEM which was at least differenet (and better) than Windows 1.0
The thing is this Altix is 256 CPU machine in a single system image. They are looking to take this to 512 in a single image. That is some serious scaling
Its not CPU speed that is important in supercomputer/clusters it is the speed at which you can get data from one node to esp memory access. If you havea 512 node system and node 3 needs a copy of node 40's memory it has to copy it over.
If its even just 512Mb of Gigabit ethernet and assuming 100% performace it would still take 5 seconds which is many orders of magniture. Just look at SGI machines which use NUMA and their Cray-Linux are 3.2 TeraBytes (bytes not bits). Now thats how you want to shift data
Well I must admit that the base VIA C3 hardware is very stable. I've been running some as smal l servers and it works well. Also XP isn't that bad and only needs to occasional reboot when things stop working
The legal action is also causing them to have problems hiring. I was called up by one recuriter/pimp and asked if I would be intrested in working in their call center. To this I gave a firm but polite no. HE then let slip that everyone he had spoken to had said pretty much the same thing. Oh well
Then the glitches would be a feature Agent Smith would need to be updated ever 2 weeks to avoid the latest expolit which would allow Neo to destroy him It would have to be rebooted every month to free up the memory leaks
Everything is about choice. Microsoft saying that this is a move away from freedom and choice is rubbish. If *they* want to use Microsoft then they will. For somethings MS is the best answer such as playing games and for the general populs. It brings some sort of standard to the industry.
However if Brazil feel that other OS are better for the jobs they want then they can go for it. The point is no-one is being forced to use anything so MS just see the $$'s slipping away than anything else
Recently I've been seen a marked increase in things like this for PayPal as well as the main UK banks including LLoyds and Barclays. People are definitly getting more aggressive to get your details.
Also the emails are getting "smarter" in that they look more like the place and making use of the old http://www.domain1.com@www.domain2.com which for a newbie can be very easily misread
I would hope it would come pre-programmed and already know how to balance. Last thing you want is your shiny nice new robot falling over and smashing your priceless ming vase
This is what hit Worldpay a few days ago where their system was just flooded with bogus orders. Not a traditional DDOS but still just as effective. more details
Yes and these are the first to be physically strong enough to replace the desk

Now if I could just get iptables working right

But can I use the within my foil hat design to stop them probing my mind?

With apt I know that if I install a program it will work or at least be given a configuration screen to edit the settings

I found the following intresting

It has come up with new and exciting ways to let people comprimise the machine

A 512 CPU and 1024 CPU IRIX system. The 512 one is referred to as the small one :)

Well I've got all 3 seasons on DVD and can bring a smile even on the worse days. However more would be cool.

No longer will a geek have to lie in bed dying they can now crouch in front of they keyboard and with their last breath write.
"Goodbyeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee"
Fantastic.
Now why don't I ever thing of ideas like that?
