It's not about actually watching the movies, or listening to the songs, or fapping to the pr0n. It's about having a bigger ePeen than the rest of your buddies.

Friend, boasting, says, "Yeah man, I have 2,030,591 photos of Natalie Portman photoshopped with hot grits in various ways."
You say, "Well that is quite impressive my friend. How will you ever find time to look at them all?"
Friend responds, "Look at them? Why would I want to do that? Grits are disgusting, and I'm a homosexual."

    See how that works?

All I take it to mean is that at a certain point our intelligence will be superseded by something which we create. From there we cannot predict what will happen -- if it will begin to exponentially grow, etc.

It's not a "we're all going to become one with the machines" thing. It's a "there's this certain point, that if reached, we really don't know what will happen next, but it could be quite interesting."

Yeah, congrats on trying to rationalize a clear mistake in the script. So, did I mention I'm a pilot? I made the Kessel run in less parsecs than the famous Falcon... Sure, I was going about .001% of light speed, but BOY were my turns tight! I mean, c'mon, even if you try to rationalize if your way you still leave out the vastly more important factor of HOW LONG did it really take? A ship traveling at 1000x light speed might take 50 parsecs, but it would get there 100x faster than the Falcon.

This sort of tech is certainly not going to be in my general-purpose computer any time soon, or ever, because I am simply never going to purchase a computer that doesn't allow me to customize it to my heart's content. And there will always be components available to build one that don't have this kind of bullshit built in. Really? I can't think of many. The length of the screen would prohibit the use of simple rails that slide out of the body of the phone... they'd be much longer than the phone's width. I imagine that some kind of one-way-bendable rail that can roll up with the screen could work but that would be a pretty delicate thing and if you tweaked it at all you might be pretty pissed when your screen doesn't roll back up..

OK so I imagine that the technology doesn't really fit well with touchscreen designs. That's fine though: I want a device like the HTC Evo with a nice sized touchscreen in the portrait orientation but a roll-out OLED in the landscape which would become a widescreen for video. I'm thinking like 3.5" normal 'portrait' screen and a 8" roll-out widescreen... if they can figure out a way to keep it pretty sturdy when rolled out. That'll be a challenge IMHO.
