Agreed. EA is forcing you to rebuy their repolished stuff for the 360. No Burnout backward compatibility. What a shame. Hopefully they make me a fool but fixing that little omission by releasing a emulator for the 360.
I admit, I'm a big fan of my xbox and xbl and will be buying a 360 but this Marketplace concept makes me nervous. I'm afraid of game publishers piece-mealing us to death with digital clothes, tattoos, weapons and car paint jobs. Selling someone a digital island for real money makes my skin crawl. I'll vote with my $ by not using the marketplace for the stupid crap and only use it for new maps/levels that I feel are above and beyond what would be considered a complete game.
The obvious analogy of Bungie's map pack will be used. I did pay for so I could play with my friends online. If you were patient it was free except for the extra material on the disk. That was the only acceptable way of handling it with maybe the possibility of making it free from day one.
I have a Sony 34" Wega HD and a couple of Sharp LCD TVs. While Sony beats them hands down on sound, Sharp's LCD quality is excellent and in many cases outperforms the Sony. The LCD weighs less, has less EMI and uses less electricity. I'd also be willing to bet is easier on the environment in manufacturing and recycling.
Your argument sounds like the guys who still like vinyl albums over cd's although with less technical facts and thought.
I believe the poster was referring to being back in the white house where he would have access to his handlers/advisors information which is all funneled in from different departments and govt. agencies. Working from home sounds like work but it ain't. The rights give GW too much slack and make excuses while the lefts are pointing out each flaw. Who is more correct? Pump money, water, tents, medicine, people and communication capabilities into the area and that's GW needs to make sure is being done. Then making damn well sure what is being done is given to the media.
It sucked hard and long. I like and want the 360 but I couldn't take the MTV crap for long. I didn't find one friend who liked it. The ourcolony.net video was what this MTV crapola fest should have been.
The number of processors don't enter into it. It's the language used to run them plus the video hardware that is making backward compatibility difficult.
Isms in my opinion are not good. A person should not believe in an ism - he should believe in himself. I quote John Lennon: "I don't believe in Beatles, I just believe in me." A good point there. Of course, he was the Walrus. I could be the Walrus. I'd still have to bum rides off of people.
When these high paying jobs leave the USA, the incomes leave too. People with lower incomes eventually have to consume less. Tough times lie ahead for many Americans.
Well said. That line says it all. The short-sighted people who claim this is progress will likely see the 'progress' turn into a crippling form of economic depression. The business to business companies will be doing well but the unemployment rate will catch up and consumer based companies will not understand why no one is buying their products.
You can't have a country full of managers.
Don't think you can get a proper feel for depressions and such. I think it was due to the amount of rain in a certain time frame and since the rain we have been having lately already saturated the ground.
I saw this on the 14th and discussed this on a gaming site I belong too so/. is a little behind.
My wish list: Flamethrower big hell yeah.
Live co-op would be great but I think it will be that never fullfilled wish due to network lag.
ATV is cool. Bigger maps wouln't be as bad w/ atv w/ a SMG built in. Allow someone to stand on back and fire one weapon.
I like the ability to move turrets and use jackal shields.
Battery drain on sword during Live play - hopefully fixed in H2.
AI bots in matches.
Lean MC lean around that rock to fire.
Lose the super jumping and no damage drops. ----
This is my favorite game and the replay value on it is than any others I have combined. The music, voice acting & story is interesting enough. The animation and play balance works for me. If you don't like it, it doesn't bother me. If you don't like the controllers don't use them get a SmartJoyFrag and do that realistic mouse-click, space bar or arrow keys finger shuffle. I use my pc/laptops for work and all my consoles for play.
Playing H2 online w/ friends by far is the best expereice I had w/ online gaming. After we get bored w/ matchmaking then we play custom games to amuse us.
I agree w/ Drakino. After being hounded by a friend to get xbox and xbox live I'm very glad I did. That friend's list is worth the $50 a year. I played online w/ my PC and basically hated it because of the smacktards out there. Having some control over what someone does by being able to cancel the account does keep the smacktards in check. Being able to see my friends online and what game they are playing via web or xbox is worth > $50.
It is pretty sweet. I'm not much of a stats guy but the detail that is tracked is unreal. How many head shots, overlay maps to see where you were when you were shot, how many shots fired, etc
* Matt Williams came up w/ a Perl script to pull down the data and aggregate it into a few html pages. It takes a while to pull it down.
There is also an issue about the sheer amount of data being tracked so Bungie has already said that the data won't be tracked forever.
* -H2SA - Halo 2 Stats Aggregator by Matt Williams under the GNU Public License, Version 2.
Informal survey in a gaming group I belong to (200 members) shows that a slim majority will buy it eventually. The sticking point is that since this is a closed group, the normal hosts need buy this map otherwise why bother?
Horrible timing since Halo 2 is out in 33 days. The last map they issued for Black Arrow was good but not worth.01 more. Nice plain ordinary map but nothing to get excited about.
I can only speak for me but I worked in their IT dept at city hall and down the block in the SEPTA building where the rest of the IT staff resides. That's the spread. I brought my own equipment to work with since the PCs were not able to handle what we had to do. Like I said the racks were coming in and there was an attempt at organization. The managers I spoke with knew it was old and were trying to bring the city up to speed but it is a slow process. To order in equipment took months. Getting it installed wasn't too bad but they aren't oozing with tech staff there. Getting the money was the biggest issue.
Now if you take that whole environment into consideration and theorized on the city's ability to setup something that big. You would come to a similar conclusion.
Of course in another thread regarding Comcast's position on the whole possibility I thought that Comcast might be in position to partner with the city to accomplish this. I don't see them doing this on their own even with a consultant company. Too much $$$. They were having issues meeting the payroll!
Stepping out of my pessimistic role, I would love to see this happen!
I worked for the City of Philadelphia as a contractor for a year. I have no doubt that this is the pie in the sky dream that will not happen. There is no money, installation or support plan to this project/publicity stunt. They are so cash strapped it isn't even funny. The server room looks like something out of the early 70's. IT is just getting racks installed.
If I'm wrong and it does happen, look for the network to start failing immediately and having to take 6-8 weeks for something to get fixed and only after the appropriate bribes... I mean donations are received. Also look for the light post hubs to be missing soon after installation.
"Neil Bloomgarden, a tech-support worker in New York, has begun job hunting after seven years with the same firm. He says he's burned out by 10-hour days and uncertainty caused by a merger. "You're going to see a lot of people start looking because the economy is starting to pick up," he says."
I guess Neil just became an involuntary statistic. I'm really hoping he didn't use his real name.
News goes right to the error as did the search, but as I was done typing this comment it started working again and fast I might ad. Right before the IPO too... hmmm.
I never had a game machine growing up however my friends had Atari's and intellivisions.... Since I have a good job I thought I'd treat myself and buy the consoles that I wanted. Bought the PS2 first and got a bunch of games, wasn't happy w/ the load times on some. Next, bought the GC for my son where the load times are better but graphics not as crisp. I finally bought the Xbox on the advice of someone who doesn't care Microsoft vs Linux and have been happy w/ the graphics (HD!), sound, load times and of course Halo. I perfer the xbox now and buy only xbox games.
Do I like Microsoft? Not really but I think limiting myself to just one console/technology isn't a wise attitude. How else can you speak with any authority on a subject?

The 'fixes' aren't apparent, the errors are there. My bad.
Wow, next you'll solve world hunger by telling people to eat more.
#2 of your solution is the tricky part. Sometimes or most of the times the errors aren't very apparent.
and welcome to the US.
It's a huge problem, I had a hard time finding it when I was young. ; )

We'll see how virual Sony get's when it's their new console is close to release. Nintendo has always marketed w/ class.

I will answer your obvious troll with a Yes to your second question.

Maybe Philly is trying to flex it's muscles against Comcast's request for tax breaks?

or it is likely a pipe dream on one city offical not thinking who he is stepping on.
The other possiblity is that Phila. wants to get more $ and might consider partnering with Comca$t? This article is a way of testing the waters?
