A hugely anticipated game ships with the most oppressive DRM yet. Aside from a handful of educated gamers not buying it, the backlash consists of Amazon comment spam... and this is supposed to be the end of DRM? It looks more like just the beginning.
Tell you what, when a hugely anticipated triple-A title from an outfit like EA ships with no DRM, why don't we call THAT the beginning of the end.
With messages costing as much as they do? Maybe if there is a hurricane discount, but AFAIK that only applies for category 4 and higher.
Wait, surely they aren't saying that the cost to the network of providing SMS services is lower than voice? Because the way they price it, it's cheaper to get data from the Hubble Space Telescope.
I popped for a commercial account because I want no BS and the ability to run servers. I still suspect them of monkeying around somehow, though. Downloads from my web server do not run at the speed they should. I'll have to do some tests and see if it is just port 80 that is so afflicted.
But if the security guard is NOT being an asshole about it, maybe you should take it up with the people setting the policy, not the guard. Do you absolutely have to take that picture?
That attitude is just strengthening the "chilling effect" that results when things which are not laws are enforced as if they were.
We will all be better off if, in that position, we wielded our rights under the law and took the picture.
Be decent to the guard, even if he is being a jerk, of course. But don't sacrifice your rights for the sake of his job.
Correct me if I'm wrong... but aren't contracts breakable without termination charges if the service provider changes the contract?
That was a right-pretty speech, sir. But I ask you, what is a contract? Webster's defines it as "an agreement under the law which is unbreakable." Which is unbreakable! Excuse me, I must use the restroom.
But on the other hand - to think of something that would today be a garage kit, only done up as a downloadable design for fabrication... that would be pretty damn cool.
Agreed. But look at the dark side... IP laws are going to apply to this new medium too. Fox or whoever owns the copyrights isn't going to let you sell that Serenity kit even if you created the CAD files as a labor of love.
Looking ahead to the "diamond age" when we have matter compilers, we'll have DRM that makes today's padlocks on music look like a memory of heaven.
Things are changing at Cuil. When their first story was up a few days ago, they returned zero hits on my own name. Now there are returning 55, though Google has MANY more and the top results seem more relevant.
(I am not famous OR narcissistic, but my name is out there due to work so it is a good test.)
Spectacular, +1, would read again!
I think most people would understand that I was speaking about DRM in video games, not across all software on all platforms.
The point still stands. It doesn't look like "the end" of DRM in games to me.
But it is a time for the U.S government to arrest the top of CoS and ban the cult. They are dangerous and have been for a long time.
Hey, it's not like they tried to infiltrate the government or anything like that!

I am getting tired of the "freedom of speach" typo too, and I would like to encourage everyone to switch to the newer and edgier "freadom of speech."
Does anyone think that we'll ever be getting the free wireless broadband anyway, no matter what the terms of the agreement say?
Canada Studies? OMG, it's true!
http://www.universities.com/edu/Bachelor_degrees_in_Regional_Studies_US_Canadian_Foreign.html#
Are there any US Studies programs in Canada I wonder? A quick google didn't find any.
I suspect that Canada is not often in the US news for two simple reasons.
1. Canada is not in trouble
2. Canada is not causing trouble
This leaves potential lead stories about Canada reading like:

After 2 years of being in 'alpha' status with nothing spent on advertising...
hmmm. Imagine that.
Wait, doesn't that work for Google's web apps?
+1 Interesting?! INTERESTING? You guys are nuts. :) I was aiming for +1 Funny.

You are MY kind of asshole.
Frankly, we need a lot more assholes like you.
Sir, I salute you.
Netflix is down, and this guy's spam stops.
Coincidence?
How would a "balanced internet" work in the first place?
Simple! You'd write something wrong, and then you'd be fined or go to jail. What is "wrong" would change depending on who was in power.
I for one welcome our... No, wait. I don't welcome them at all. In fact, they can go to hell.

My clothes were covered in GSR, I had spent casings, two laptops, numerous memory cards, cellphones and a big knife (in checked luggage)...
Awesome vacation, man!

Just feeling cynical this morning, I guess!
Maybe this guy is innocent and when he saw the hell that Hatfill went through, he decided he'd rather check out instead.
Just kidding! ... but not really.

As it does not involve making a fake mustache from a strip of tape covered in cat hair, it doesn't seem to count as a puzzle game.
Nonetheless, it is what I am playing tonight.
Psychopaths are very charming but still, girls, try not to marry one.
Then who's going to change them?
