I read the WoT of time up through book 10. The only reason I went that far is because I bought all 10 books at once do to many of my friends raving about how good a series it is. I pretty much hated every book after 3 or 4. If I had to read one more line about some woman staring daggers at some clueless male, for being male, I would have puked. But he has a very loyal core following. I don't see what they see in his work but I won't knock em for it. It's sad when an author you love and feel connected to dies.
Anyway, for my money one of the best fantasy epics ever written for me is Tad Williams, _Memory, Sorrow, and Thorn_. It saddens me that no one one has mentioned him in the discussion so far. That trilogy really provoked a lot of feeling from me.
One angry man with a gun cannot hope to stand against the government. An angry majority of the population with guns certainly stands a good chance of toppling an oppressive regime. Especially if that regime's military is manned by the angry population's sons and daughters.
Censoring the net seems to put these students at a disadvantage when compared to students at other universities who have unfettered access to this information. So while it's certainly possible and likely that they can still get an excellent education, the net censorship adds an obstacle that students at other universities don't have to surmount.
The subtitle of the book is 'Straight talk from the loud-fat-bloke who protected Buckingham Palace and ran KPMG's security practice'. Essentially, the book is Osborne's reminiscence of his years in information security; including the good, the bad, and more often then not, the ugly.
In rural areas, where $5 is not considered to be a completly insignificant amount of money. Places where the average yearly salary is barely over $20k. The ATM fees are also usually lower, say $0.25 to $0.75.
He never said anything about apple. You added that yourself and you should have noted that you did. As was stated in a previous post he was actually thinking of non legal competitors not other DRM shops.
I know you're a troll, but I personally have never seen comedy central or any other national cable channel scroll weather information across their programs. Much less local weather info that is relevant to my location. So please do us all a favor and shut the fuck up.
Reminds me of a time I was driving through Missouri. I was going down the highway when I see a temporary roadside sign that says something to the effect of drug checkpoint ahead. So even though I wasn't carrying any illicit substances I didn't really feel like messing with the time and hassle of it, so i took the next exit. I was imediately stopped and told that my vehicle was subject to search, which I of course objected to. They claimed they had probable cause because I tried to avoid their narcotics check point. I'm pretty sure that's not suffcient but never really bothered to persue the issue so can't be sure.
Users don't view the features they don't use as clutter. They view it as pontential. Just because they have never used a feature doesn't mean they won't some day, at least that's what they tell themselves. The mindset is better to have it and not need it than need it and not have it.
I also suspect that users saying open office doesn't have the same features is just user speak for it doesn't feel and act exactly the same as what they are used to. People don't like change, so if it's not immediately easy and familiar they are going to resist it.
Heh Detasseling was the work for people that were to fragile to walk beans. Now there's a truly horrible job. Not only do you get the cut up hands like you do from detasseling, but you also get the agonizing back pain of have spent 12 hours crouching in a hot bean field.
These guys are mad with power. About 3 years ago they decided to arrest 278 people with absolutely no cause. Check these articles out. I think every officer involved in the incident should have been fired.
I already have a Tivo that I've hooked into my network so I have no need for PVR functionality. What I'm interested in is a rig to deliver my digital media to my main entertainment center. I figure any decent PC with a video out is fine. Does anyone have any recomendations for hardware that will facilitate the the ripping of DVD's so that I can store them on the HDD of the machine? Preferably in mpeg4 format. I've done some searching but there don't seem to be any dedicated mpeg4 encoder cards available for non professional use. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
Tell them you bought it as a gift for your 10 year old niece, who then went and stuck it in her computer. She's ten and can't enter into legally binding agreements and you yourself never agreed to anything. Then demand $500 to cover the mental trauma your poor niece experienced.

Apparently he was the bullet but like you I still don't get it.
Romania. That only lasted barely one generation.

I think his version is correct. I've never considered Candians to be a polite people.

I would also refer you to Lemmy Kilmister.
WIN+E launches windows explorer
WIN+L locks the computer, I don't know if it will switch users in say the home edition.
WIN+P, WIN+C requires Microsoft Natural Keyboard with IntelliType software installed. The others are supported by Windows natively.

I'm sorry I don't have any mod points for you. That post was comedy gold.

Umm, aren't a vast number of muslims semites, maybe even the majority of them? Hate crimes against muslims in most cases would be anti-semitism.

Just imagine what they would pull, if they were given even the tiniest bit more power.

How exactly, are they going to seize the pass phrase from inside my head, barring torture?
