I have seen very few "miracle drugs", what I DO see are companies saving patents by upgrading and re-releasing drugs.

Medicare/Medicaid already underpays doctors for services( 40-60% ) and this raises prices for the rest of us

I think greed, and frivolous lawsuits provide this "service" to the common man more then medicare/medicaid.

The web page could have even more information that my example shows. In which case, it could make the toll-free number unused, and the mailing costs much reduced. In which case the company might actually save money. In which case, they could afford to lower prices which could lead to more sales.

If a company reduces its costs, that will NOT translate into lower prices... it will make the richest 3% of said company even richer, while those who do the work get nothing. Maybe even cut.

So.. Why do they /need/ to have commericals? Other than greed, I mean.

The answer is in the question me thinks

your analogy is quite flawed. using information gleened from source XYZ to compile the methods used by auto theives to rob ZoomZoom model X10, or model Z14, or whatever and using that data to enhance security comes a bit closer.

and there is nothing wrong with BigMedia using BigChampagne to gather data, but to say P2P networks have no value other than copyright infringment, and then using the traffic generated by them to boost sales, well, now the waters get a little murky.
