The first thing I did was check to see the one that I administer (at the corner of Bay & Elm Streets). I work in a little Mac Store here, and one of the services we provide to our customers (and everyone else) is free wireless access. I should probably WEP my network, and at least have them ask for the password to log in... but I'm just too lazy. We're open 'till midnight on weekdays, so I might get around to it tonight. If you're in the area, drop by and ask for Daniel... If you tell me you saw my posting on/. um... I'll give you a free Ambrosia SW CD. Otherwise... free AirPort access until I secure it.
hell, I'd mod it up as funny just for the stuff you used to bypass the lameness filter. I guess thats why Captain Burrito doesn't see fit to let me moderate.
What is up with still using this old fashioned measurement for temperature? The rest of the world has been switched over to the metric system for decades now, why is the USA always playing catch-up? (and not doing a very job at it)
Now, every once in a while I get asked this question: how is it that a VCR can record a TV show when the TV isn't turned on? Yeah, I can hear the snickers. But I get this from a lot of basically intelligent people. And the frustrating thing is, I've never found an explanation that makes sense to the asker. To me it's obvious, "You see, there's two tuners, the TV has one, the VCR has one...." But the eyes just glaze over.
Why not just point to the cable coming out of the wall and say "see that? Thats where the TV signal goes into the VCR..."
Ever stop to wonder about why EVERY proposed source of power is opposed by the hard Greens?
I have never heard an environmentalist opposed to solar or wind power. Come to think of it, I have never heard anyone strongly opposed to solar and wind power, except people whose livelihood depends on the continued consumption of non-renewable resources.
These devices were not designed to produce electricity, were they? Seems to me this is a desperate attempt to look like they are doing something about the problem, but in fact are creating additional inefficiencies in the system, which can only come back to bite them in the ass later.
Rob was kinda funny, and he spent the last half hour playing the Sims on stage. (As an aside, all of Rob's Sims were lesbians, and he seemed to enjoy killing all the men in the game).
Rob actually said: "I am the biggest troll on slashdot"
I hope that next year, MacHack finds someone with more interesting things to say. He came across as a bit arrogant, and didn't really have any real insights into the industry.

dude, what's the story with your sig?
blah blah Slashdot requires you to wait 20 seconds between hitting 'reply' and submitting a comment.
Same thing. If he said he created it, he is also saying he invented it.
I have to disagree with you there. Creating and inventing are inherently different. If I create an Apple Pie (by mixing the ingredients together & putting it in the oven) that is very different from inventing Apple Pie, which only one person ever did. The same with the Internet. As a Senator, Gore pushed the legislation that mixed together the ingredients that made the internet, and put them in the oven. (and by the time that oven timer dinged, he was already Veep, and didn't have much say in it anymore. (BTW, anyone else, feel free to use and refine this metaphor I just came up with.)
I preferred it when they were more expensive. I love owning the BMW of the computer world. If you are a cheap ass who only wants to spend $400 on a computer, then you get what you pay for! Trying to defend against these people is a waste of time. There will always be some moron who claims that the Mac is too expensive for him. Too fscking bad. If you can't afford it, you don't deserve to be using one. Its like a welfare bum crying because they can't afford a porsche. I don't have any time for these whiners. If you want a premium brand, expect to pay more for it. If, as this study says, the total cost of ownership turns out to be less, good for you. Thats why its a premium brand.
Dude, I've seen your sig, and I have to ask, whats up with that? I'm Canadian too, and I actually think TMLF should be our national anthem (at least, Anne Murray's version at MLG), but why do you have that as your sig?
We'll all miss little Willie
We'll not see him anymore
For what he thought was H2O
Was H2SO4
Cool! I never knew about that.
This article is a blatent attempt by the editors of Slashdot to get Google linking recursivly to them. Nice try guys.
With CowBoyNeal somewhere in the middle?
It took you that long? You been spending too much time in the boardroom.
Cheers
Are we there yet?
Alternatively, you could check local bookstores, but usually its hidden behind the counter, or behind the copies of Martha Stewart Living
Just be sure that when you buy it in a store, you pay cash, and don't give them any ID or personal info.

Picard wasn't LaForge's supervisor, Riker was.
Hey Wesley!
Have you been approached to play Batman? (Or Robin?)
I think you'd be a great superhero. Heck, you were practically a superhero on TNG.
BSA? Since when are the Boy Scout of America advocating Linux?

What is it with you people and uptime? Is this just another way of comparing penis size? (My uptime is longer than your uptime, etc)
Grow up! It won't kill you to reboot once in a while!

It will... someday
The most important reason to stick with HFS+ is that a UFS drive cannot boot back into OS 9, and does not support Classic. (Also, HFS+ is faster)

Windows is only cheaper if your time is worthless.
