Who would watch 2 hours of on-demand programming every night? If I missed an episode or something, I could see paying a few bucks to catch up. Who would really use this as their only TV viewing, instead of watching normal broadcasting every one in a while?
They use similar logic when the water commission posted a takedown notice for my new shop sink. They clearly don't want me to have it, but I'm not going to let THE MAN dictate where and when I can wash my hands!
If only there was some sort of shipping company who dealt only in paper documents. They could end waste like this overnight! (or priority, or first class, or media mail)
Yikes. With consoles becoming more complex and more like computers with each generation, it looks like issues like this will become all too common. How long before someone brings a PS3 backup utility to market?
I've heard they're releasing Diablo 3 for Mac on the same day as the Windows version. Maybe they're already using Cedega or something similar to help speed the porting process. If so, it would make sense that Diablo 3 would run fine under Wine/WineX.
A Mac port on release day is promising for anyone who would want to run it on Linux.
The Democrats in the House voted 105-128 for this bill too. As a party, they opposed it on the whole (with a pretty slim margin). If the Democratic party as a whole didn't want this, they had the votes to stop it. This isn't a Democrat / Republican thing anymore, it has everything to do with the individual Representative in your area.
Call your Representative. Call the guy who's running against him. Ask them questions about what's important to you. Then vote for the one you like best, even if you don't like the letter that comes after his name. Every single one of these idiots who passed this bill is up for reelection every two years. If you don't like it, vote them out.
Because Comcast throttles BitTorrent, and the pirate kiddies can't tell the difference between the right to free speech and the ability to steal. It's pretty sad.
You kinda were trolling. There are far more uses for BitTorrent than just piracy. It's the only way I get any large download anymore (game demos, linux isos) if I can help it. And to wrap it all back to the topic at hand, I've never noticed a slow down when getting torrents over my Comcast internet service.
It makes sense, in a twisted kinda way. If you were the average joe who had no clue, which would you want? Something with an unfamiliar name, or something named with HD and DVD right in the title? What if that second one was around half the price?
Oh good. Now I get to plunk down $20+ per cable for the latest USB standard. I really like that copper USB2 cables are just about down to free from some online retailers. Looks like that will not be the case with USB3.
Considering the garbage that these TV companies put on the air waves, I wouldn't mind if OTA television was wiped out entirely. Hell, if the old TV stations still own the licenses on the spectrum, why not convert to wireless TVoIP business models?
Seems reasonable... we charge people with poor driving records more for auto insurance. People who live in flood plains pay more for home insurance. Why shouldn't people at higher risk of health problems pay more for health insurance?
For the record, I'd probably fall at or near the BMI requirement. I know I don't lead a healthy lifestyle, but I don't think I should get a free ride for it either.
I'd rather see a software upgrade to support SMB. Then my Wii could access files on my server. While we're at it, they could add a DivX channel for video playback. Oh yeah, and a Java VM... and a pony.
Why not just wish for a Cell Processor, the end-all-be-all of CPU technology, while you're at it.
I was going to ask for a Folding@Home Channel, but I realized my Wii doesn't have enough downtime to make good use of it.
they're the same thing, sir.
...it will be only the third time that fire has melted steel.

dammit now im hungry. thanks ass.
"Our generation's nuclear power?" Seriously? You're comparing finding a way to sell music with SPLITTING THE ATOM?!?

For that matter, shouldn't it be September 09, 02008? I mean, there will come a time when we need to use days higher than 9, people!

We better move quick, the Chinese are going to do this in 2010 if I recall.

I didn't realize cross-dressing mac gamers were such a large demographic.
Windows 98 and Windows ME were subversions of 4 (4.5 and 4.9, I think) which makes XP 5 and Vista 6.

If you ask me, Dan's gotten himself in more trouble than a chipmunk in a tire factory.

I'd like to see Kari bust the myth that basic cable is not governed by the FCC and can show full frontal nudity.
ID-software started fixing this, even before the /. article hit the frontpage.
Copy GPL, paste into readme.txt. I still don't get why people where so upset in the first place.

So, where do I mail my resume to? Its-a-me, new hire!
