    My question is this: So what? Sorry you had issues, but...

    Liar or not, I have ~15 people I can line up that will talk about their complete satisfaction with Ubuntu, all of whom I suggested it to after headaches (adware/spyware, worms top of the list) Windows XP. MOST of them did installs on their own, and some of these are people that can barely pull photos off their digital cameras.

    I've worked in customer service a lot back in the day and know that pissed off customers are far more vocal than happy ones. However that doesn't mean there are not any customers out there that are perfectly happy with the product.

    That's how it works with everything. I can swear up and down about how awesome Honda cars are, but know plenty of people that won't ever buy one, for whatever reason.

    Like I said, sorry you seem to have issues, but there are PLENTY of people for whom Linux "just works".

    It could have been 43, since X3: Reunion also has a Linux client. However I don't know if they didn't include it because they didn't realize as such (it wasn't released until last fall I believe) or they are counting it as a "Best" of.

    Anyway, cool list. There are games on there I didn't know about. Will have to check them out.

    You know it made me think though. How many other sys admins/IT folk on here have found mp3s of "dubious nature" stashed on home directories on file servers or elsewhere on their work network?

    At my last job, there was a guy who had piled up 20GB of mp3s he admitted he'd copied off other employees.

    I'd like to see some language injected into this bill that requires corps to install scanning software or be subject to a federal raid.

    It might be me, but if I knew my kid had problems with depression, as this girls mother has said she did, I wouldn't be letting them spend much time online, particularly unsupervised.

    If I had kids, they'd hate me. Keyloggers FTW, accounts w/ passwords I know. As they got older I'd get less restrictive, but I would understand it is not the worlds job to watch my kids.

    you could have a small staff that QA's submitted modules, but really it could be as easy as "deputize" the player base. have random "mod points" given to players (that sounds familiar) and point them at "new" quests/stories submitted to play through for QA to make sure someone isn't gettin' loot called "Elixir of Sum Yung Gai" or "Go here and watch me fuck your mom!" quests.

    I mean like an "over world". Scripted story parts could unfold in pubs/cantinas in the over world, "meet here to start" type of thing. only people in your group are subjected to an NPC's babble while the rest of the players run around oblivious.

    but you also allow instanced dungeons. it would move from between the seamless worlds like WoW/SWG/etc have into instances and back out. but you'd have one main big world is what i meant by "static"

    i don't really care very much about the world itself changing. you could do it through monthly story events. what might be cool is have the story with 2 or 3 outcomes, and whichever server had more faction participents it's copy of the world would change to reflect that factions involvement. each server would then be diff

    doesn't seem like this is all that zany an idea. makes me think if i thought of this shit there has to be some reason why someone who actually makes these games hasn't implemented them. any new MMO's are still full of the grind with little new but diff graphics and a couple menial tricks.
