I'm no game programmer either, but the list of things they said would be included seemed a tad optomistic even to me considering this was developed strictly for the Xbox. If they had done it on PC it may have been more surprising.

However I did enjoy what was there of the game. I only wish it were longer. That's my only complaint.

More items and a less button mashing fighting style would be all else I'd ask for.

Without customers to buy computer products the tech. industry would be shit. That "drivel" they save their files in may actually be drivel but you can't tell me with all the people out there that use Word there aren't some documents in that format that probably make the world go round. Perhaps it isn't the best but bitchin' about it to those that are just as in the know as you is counter-productive.

And while I will be marked as flamebait, I continue.

This "M$" thing is just showing how childish you can be when talkin' about a company you think acts like a spoiled brat. If you hate Microsoft fine, but for the sake of the still sane stop whining. Again the majority on /. know all about Microsofts trangressions.

If you're sick of it then put your money where your mouth is, round up all the other like minded geeks here and code the second coming of desktop operating systems, office suites and whatever else you feel you are missing in ur tech. obssessed lives. The last place I worked was thinkin' of moving part of their production over to China. Some railed against it because they feared it may cost jobs here. I and a few others held the position of "Why would we want to help support China's communist economy?"

In the end though the almighty dollar won out and last I heard (I don't work there any more) 50% of their production operation is moving over seas.

Yeah I got one. I meant for On-line play over the PC obviously. It's a bit hard to get ppl over often enough to play FF:CC. It's easier to setup a quick Diablo or DS game, even though I don't particularly enjoy them as much as FF:CC.

    Thanks for your clarification though.

  17. Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles series on Nintendo Announces Western DS Game Line-Up · · Score: 1

Does anyone know if this means that the CC style games will stay Nintendo-only?

I liked 7 but got bored with the random battles and mini-movies the later games turned into, though they had their cool points.

I like the simplicity of FFCC's game mechanics when it comes to magic, weapons, etc. It's a pick-up and play with your friends game (which was there intent I guess) but it does have a few issues. I always thought it would be awesome on PC for multiplay.

I suppose I'll stick to Diablo II and Dungeon Siege.

They're retooling the path to become a Jedi as well, from the grind to a quest driven path. I'm sure people will be even MORE open to pursuing the path of Jedi once that goes through.

They basically bowed to player pressure and threw continuity out w/ the bath water.

There's a state of the game on the SWG site where a dev states it is to make the game more fun. Personally I'm not interested in playing a Star Wars MMORPG full of Jedi. That's why they make the Jedi Knight series.

There shouldn't be a Jedi system period IMNSHO. But somewhere along the way Jedi became the selling point for nearly everything Star Wars. (There were only what 4 Jedi [If you consider Anakin to have redeemed himself] and Palpatine in the OT!)

I was planning on trying SWG again once JtL got released but that was contingent of the battle system being altered for the main game. Now I dunno.

My guess as to why they're harder to find now- Lack of demand. Broadband is far more available (or available period) compared to 5 years ago.

As of May of this year 48.61% of U.S. homes who regularly use the Internet have broadband.

Why pay another monthly fee when you can just throw up some hardware of your own on your home network that you can use without restriction. (Other than running say a web server on your cable modem, but if you want to SSH home and mucky muck around, no one is stopping you.)

For all the computer nerds without broadband, there are a few providers out there, but don't expect much competition when it comes to pricing/options.
