I guess you've never had a ATI all-in-wonder card. I have the old AIW Rage 128 version and it records straight into VCD compliant MPEG-1 video, no conversion required. I can burn them straight to VCD with Nero. Better still I can burn 8 hours worth to a DVD-R.
Kudos on the Stargate SG-1 watching, I've been getting alot of TV and Anime series from Netflix(via DVD-Shrink). Another good immersive series is the Firefly DVD set. The best episodes that were made were never aired due to moronic sports . Buy or rent the series and enjoy Joss Whedons vision.
That depends on what you watch and what you do while watching it. I have a 13" LCD TV on my computer desk that mostly display news and educational channels while I'm coding. That thing is on like 12 hours a day. 8^)
Thats why I bought the Tapwave Zodiac . It has 2 SD card slots, a real 3D graphics chip, Huge 5" screen and built in Bluetooth. All for $299. Now if they could create a program that lets you access a pocket Bluetooth hard drive or DVD drive.
So how long until you can buy a small RF snooping device that lets you record and replay RFID signatures, kind of like the kind for garage door openers.
My last boss retired from the USAF with a Masters degree in compsci and experience in about 10 different programming languages. If it weren't for his Top Secret clearance he would probably still be looking. I myself just started a MIS to go with my Compsci so when I retire in 4 yrs I'll have something else on my resume.
If you think that is waistfull, Imagine how much it costs to buy smart cards for all Military and DOD employees + readers on all computers + extra servers and admins to implement the system. The military is now replacing all ID cards with smart cards.
For all those fans who would like to see the Doctor on DVD, about 20 complete episodes are available on Netflix. I just put Doctor Who: The Dalek Invasion of Earth (2-Disc Series) (1964) in my rental Queue.
I have two of the COMPAQ luggables. one still works perfectly with the 286 CPU and 640K + 2 mb expansion card. I removed the still working 10 MB RLL hard drive and installed a 40Mb IDE hard card. I have also installed a original 8-bit sound blaster card and 10 base-t/2 netcard. I can surf on the CGA monitor with the ALICE web browser. I also put a old CD-ROM drive in but all it does is play audio CDs with the front buttons for control. Works good as a garage system. I almost turned the spare one into a LAN party computer at one time but just bought a gameing laptop intead.
Due to Air Force frugality I'm still using a Intergraph 21 inch Monitor we bought as a package with some incredibly fast Intergraph P166 workstation w/SCSI drives. The PCs have long ago been given to local schools, but the Monitors live on. I'm about to upgrade from a 400Mhz POS to newer 2Ghz DELL P.O.S.
I have stop buying in protest. Most of the stuff out there is crap anyway.
A legal way to get singles is to hook a good quality FM tuner up to your audio in jack and record away. Then either download it to your MP3 player or Burn it. This is kind of a throw back to the Tape recording from the radio days , but then CD-Rs are now cheaper than blank tapes.
They would prefer you go and buy a newer Mac. Sounds like this is part of the old planned obsolescence strategy Apple has relied on to get it's fixed base of users to continuously upgrade.
The PC graphics card industry also plays this game with DirectX numerations and faster video cards with more memory.
Thats why I've decided to retire in the midwest(Norman,OK). All the joe-six-packs out there are more concerned about haveing a bigger SUV than their neighbor. They may need to make those SUV amphibious soon to deal with the rising tides. The future is all wet.
This entire suit stinks of a stock value manipulation scam. If you look at there history SCOX
you can see they have managed to increase the value of the stock from less than a dollar to $15.02 a share at one point. It started dropping again last week when IBM announced the counter-suit. Now they have sold the stock at $10.06 a share. last update reported $9.72. SELL SELL SELL
Another older small realtime OS that is still around is iRMX. I was working on a aircraft simulator that used this unix-like OS on some very old Intel backplane computers with 386 CPUs. The parts for this where getting so hard to find and exspensive ($5000 for a used CPU card) that we adapted the hardware to interface with some old 200 Mhz pentiums we had lying around. The hardest part was Translating the old iRMX Pascal to Delphi and C running win 95 on 200 meg solid state drives(CF memory cards). Still works good to this date.

The first true portable 3D gaming system was released last November. The Tapwave Zodiac is a trully cool handheld 3D gamer + Palm PDA + MP3 player.

Or is thinking of this a violation of the DMCA.

You mean those messages from Hot Young Russian Slutz where advertising. Oh My.
Seriously though that was one of the reasons I deleted ICQ a few years ago.
Imagine the uses for Pr0n ;^) -8
So your saying NEO has ROOT admin priviliges where everyone else does not? Maybe he is just a Superuser ;^)

I hope the SEC is watching this!
Sounds like they may be joining Martha Stewart in jail soon ;^))
By that time all programming jobs will be taken by primate programmers
The future is in banana farming.
