I believe the only way to battle organized religion is through organized atheism. Religion isn't going to go away just because YOU stopped believing. If organized religion wants to put up some garbage poll about elite scientists being closet theists, then organized atheism can make their own poll calling their bs.
Most working taxpayers not being able to afford a wii themselves shouldn't be paying some guy that doesn't work to get one. Then when he doesn't get his gaming console from the government he takes it to court? That's as sorry as it gets.
Most sad part about this is most of it will true with a DRM to boot. My money is on they will unplug their MW2 servers or make them so crappy that everyone will have to get this game. God bless not having dedicated servers.
Lost may have created a new genre in storytelling in Western culture but in Japanese culture, this is fairly common with anime and games. For example with FF7, Cloud has a huge past storyline and all the other characters had a past storyline too. Trigun, Naruto, DBZ, other FF's, FMA, etc. all have characters with a unique past and unspoken past events that influence the rest of the story.
As for Lost though, I haven't been looking forward to a series final since the Sopranos and am prepared for a disappointing ending this time round.
I choose to disagree with this.
As a libertarian and a capitalist, I argue choice is always a good thing. I agree you could give people the illusion of choice though, but then they didn't really have a choice at all did they?
I made the switch when I moved out last year, now I can barely stomach tv commercials at all. I tried to watch Lost on broadcast a couple weeks ago because didn't want to stay up late for it to be uploaded and had class in the morning, I couldn't make it halfway through.
Apple can get away with murder, glad some company is calling their iCrap. If Microsoft tried half of the things Apple has pulled off the last few years they be sued into oblivion.
EA is just pwn'ing Activision lately.
First they make a fps with dedicated servers and higher quality game (Bad Company 2).
Then they take Activision's top 2 developers.
Bad Company 2 is the best first person shooter I've ever played and am very impressed. I never played MW2 or intend to but everyone I've talked to says Bad Company 2 is much better anyway. Bad Company 2 might not reach MW2 sales figures, but when I buy a game, I don't really care about how popular it was or how much money it made, just the quality.
I would say the father got drunk, shot the kid (an intruder), then parents thought of this brilliant excuse to blame it on video games while they were sobering up. Both should be in prison regardless.
With few exceptions (Blizzard, Valve), game developers and publishers don't want you to be playing the same game for three or four years. They want you to upgrade to the new hotness so they can get another chunk of cash out of you.
This is a very good point!
I've boycotted MW2 because of this. Take out the dedicated servers, reduce replay value, get everyone hooked onto the next game, spend 3/4 of your budget on marketing. No Thanks.
Hasn't worked out so well in the past, I haven't seen a movie based on a video game that was worth watching twice. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_films_based_on_video_games

Maybe if they untar them they'll get a hint as to what caused them.
tar -xvf floridabeach.tar
They might find a README.TXT or a LICENSE.TXT that will explain what it's all about.
As this is a computer site, I think I have the correct meaning of 'tar' here.
only on slashdot...
Q. Why was John McCain running for President? A. It was at the top of his bucket list.

+1

What's up with Australian politician's hard on for video games? They afraid everyone will stop going outside or something?

The kids are fat, blame fast food
The kids are stupid, blame the schools
The kids smoke, blame cigarette ads with cartoons
The kids are on drugs, blame rap
The kids shot up a school, blame Marilyn Manson
The kids are violent, blame video games
But never blame the parents, because they have nothing to do with kids right?
After how IW completely ignored the demand for dedicated servers on COD6, I could care less if that whole company got the ax.
wasn't Thomas Jefferson a slave trader himself?
The only reason I would see Google to cut their funds would to get more people on Chrome. Chrome is nice and all but its no where near Firefox.
With Bing though, it would hurt Google if Mozilla starts a bidding war over their defaults with Microsoft.
Personally though, I still prefer google and firefox.
