Why would they remove internet from the classic Wii?
    • The internet is rarely used for games. The system is suppose to be used for games. Thats the reason that the GameCube didn't have a full size DVD drive.
    • It costs more to include the networking components and they want to lower the cost for extras in the controller
    • They don't want to support internet services on a previous generation platform
    • Owners are not using the Wii Store because its become stale and is used more on the DS/3DS. You an only download SMB 3 so many times (hint hint Sega).
    • Owners are not watching the Wii preview channels because most of the previews are for the 3DS and Wii U
    • Save on power usage and heat
    • (My guess) most of the internet is used for Netflix and Roku's and tablets can be found that do more

The new price point is kinda dumb considering the old one with system is still in large supple. But every gaming company offers a stripped down version of the previous generation system. Look at the top loader NES that removed the expansion port and support for many accessories. The Genesis/MegaDrive in its third version completely redesigned it A/V connectors and removed the front audio jack. The CDi... nevermind.

This is just Nintendo's way of saying this is it for the Wii. Here's solid replacement for when you break your old toy and need a cheap replacement for the kids room. And stores here's a cheap lose leader to sell out those old game CD with.

In the US we has some thing called QE2 and QE3. QE stand for Quantitative Easing. The practice is to have a central bank but up assets of a failing companies and print money to pay for it. Printing the money causes inflation. This probably is the easiest way to explain was inflation.

Our money is worth less now. So it takes more cash to buy the same amount of goods. The cost is compounded by other factors like shipping and labor.

Unfortantley for the United States QE3 is now unlimited. QE1 and QE2 both had ceiling so we could only cause so much inflation on ourselves. But with QE3 our central bank, The Federal Reserve, has an unlimited ability to print as much money as it wants.

    Let think about this:

+2 hours travel - If I take the the bus it takes me about an hour to get to work and an hour home.
+8 hours working (minimum usually 10 for me)
    +1 hour lunch and breaks
    ---------------------
    11 hours just to work
    +8 hours sleep
    ---------------------
19 hours dedicated work and sleep
That leaves at best 5 hours for doing things like dishes, meals, wife, kids, laundry, continuing education, and most important showers.

So if you want stinky hungry employees who don't see their families then by all means push them. But you'll find the good one's will find other jobs in about 2-3 months. Its been talked about briefly today but the biggest issue is that the system needs an accurate database to work. That means either you have people driving around all the time getting new data OR you are constantly connecting to the internet and exchanging your position data and those around you all the time to a central network.

The other big problem is the huge database you'll have to carry around. We are talking about trillions of data points in the US alone. The only way you get around this have an always on data connection over the internet or private network and exchange only local data.

Either issue will kill this project unless the 'free wireless internet' that president Bush pushed for and Obama promised would be instituted with the 'newly' opened up TV frequencies from switching from analog to digital tv.
