look at the conditions, they are about enforcing the GPL. only the first one is not and i suppose thathas nothing to do with the code more to do withet health of the main network.
To download the PeerCast source you must also agree to the following conditions:
a) You must not connect to the main PeerCast network if you have modified any of the code in the `core` module. (see below)
b) You must not submit modifications to us that contain or use code that is not under the terms of the GPL.
c) You must agree that any modifications accepted into the main PeerCast CVS will automatically fall under the terms of the GPL and PeerCast commercial license.
d) You must agree to the terms of the GPL license that covers PeerCast.
e) We reserve the right to accept or deny modifications to the main PeerCast CVS.
f) Modifications accepted into the main PeerCast CVS can not be revoked. (see below)
has been very good for linux. WE DO NOT have any other streaming media player. Goto CBSnews and try to play a video without real. It is even better that it is open source. The last client (Realone ) for linux was permanently beta and it seems work is progressing at a snails pace. This just injects some new life into real . Real 9 is a very nice format MUCH better than the crap the previous format was. Lets see how helix worksout. I wonder if KDE or GNOME will have a client out first:)
I love OSX, woudl kill for an apple, but... given how sluggish the OS is now, i wonder what it it would be like with a 10-15% hit... what woudl i use jouranlised fs for anyway?
Just wondering, with all of this bashing of copyrights and EULAS, isnt the GPL itself a copyright? and that little header that is on GPled files a EULA?
After all, it does say how we can use the software and how we cant.
Just when windows comes out with DRM.. apple should release OSX i86! The combined impact of curiosity, DRM and fanaticism should establish an enouirmos presence. Heck other vendors could ship with OSC instead of windows. AS far as i see it.. Mac is our only saviour now
not in bhutan, my friend went there to set up their TV service 2 years ago. Internet is nt freely avaliable and limited and computers are not evel close to being widely used
sounds like you use windows.. the realone player for linux is really quite nice.. better than the thing they had out before. if you want to download it and give it a spin.. you can start off here

does any one else think that this may be a bit premature? after all, they have merely said that they may have patants on parts of the algorithm. As far as we know -- an obviously we dont know everything -- they have not proved it yet. In addition, what is the point of doing it now? AFIK there were legal limits on enforcing your patent after you let people adopt it. Personally, i have nothing against patents but this does seem rather silly.
