Good comment. One thing stands out in your post - "If working towards freedom, prepare for war". This is the very reason why I support George Bush. Freedom for the Iraqis from tyrannical dictators ( need I mention his worthless sons and what their exploits were ) is so valuable. This very statement is the lifeblood of the Iraq war. Its not only freedom for the iraqis, but freedom from fear itself ( of terrorists and other fanatics )

Slashdot sucks. This is one of the many sloppy reports by Slashdot in recent months. Its old glory is totally gone and replaced by this nonsensical postings.
This is a flamebait and nonsensical post. And this is funny how ? Posts ( and attitudes revealed of the poster ) like these lead to some of the social problems of today.
Slashdot sucks big time. Duplicate postings, mis-representation of posts ( eg. Xbox modder gets into trouble recent post etc. ). Slashdot is Slashgarbage. At least, OSNews is fresh.

The 5min ads before the movie doesn't bother me. It in fact gives me time to settle down. Buy a coke or popcorn if I want to, without missing any of the movie. Also, if I'm late or other people are late, I don't mind if they block my view for the ads or trailers.
I *do* enjoy movie trailers as it keeps me interested in whats to come.
If there were no ads or trailers, I'll be missing the start of the movie in almost every movie.

For one, you need to use your thumbs to move the mouse. The ordinary mouse -- you use your palm, not any digit on the hand. This means you now have 2 less buttons you can access on the keyboard as its busy on the mouse. Sorry. will not work for video games.
Also from the screenies it looks painful.

A firewall shouldn't be a solution to poor design/implementation problems and code bugs. That is simply not working. What if someone gets through the firewall?... that would mean the firewall has poor design/implementation problems and code bugs. That is simply not working .....
Firewalls are needed to be the catch-all. The second (or first depending on how you look at it ) layer of defense. This is the reason why forts had moats built around it.
Really, I feel any OS can do the things I'm looking out for it to do in its scope. C'mon, you can't expect Windows to do this -- "zcat file.gz | grep miss | awk '{print $3}' | sort -n | uniq -c" like some guy pointed out earlier.
Of course, you won't approach Windows that way to do it. And how many times have you really required to do that command on a Windows desktop ?
Same way, you'll not approach linux to play fancy new games.
I use many OSes ( MacOSX, Linux, Windows, BeOS, PalmOS, QNX, Solaris, IRIX ) and they're all good in their own respects. Of course, Windows is at the bottom but its still useful for certain productivity tasks.
It like the cars. you won't take a beat up chevy station wagon to the Indy 500. You go get what's best for the job. Depending on what you want to do.

Not really.
20GB HDD = ~ $30

Total = ~ $105

I typed the term "centerable's heterolecithal" into both Google and Yahoo and they both return 0 results. The author claims 3 from Google ????
Hope he hasn't doctored any results to show in favor of Google.
