    Having shoes with holes all the way through is hardly being "financially conservative", it's downright idiotic. Worn out shoes can lead to foot, knee and other injuries, which can only lead to increased medical costs.

    Aside from that, it looks bad and can lead to wet feet during bad weather. I think he's just cheap & stupid.

    In other news, I'm considering switching to a digital camera any day now.

    Remember to check dpreview.com for details, and pay attention to sensor size. You can find tiny point & shoot cameras with 12 megapixel resolution, but a 6 MP camera with a larger sensor will give you better results, hands down. Fujis are great for better true low-light performance.

    Unless you want a DSLR, then I know nothing ;)

    So don't buy snacks! Geez, how hard is it to understand where not to spend your money? I learned that back in high school when movies were $5.00 and I was making $3.85 an hour. If there's an online charge, don't buy them online!

    Unless I haven't eaten, the most I'll buy at a movie is a coffee, $2.00.

    "Less" being relative, since diesel fuel contains more energy per volume than gasoline. Apples and oranges, except this is a car analogy.

    It gets worse: the proper way of expressing fuel efficiency is L/100km, which is bizarre and counter-intuitive if you've grown up thinking in miles per gallon. A lower L/100km is better. I just find it really hard to visualize!

    Ha, like that's ever stopped Adobe! Adobe Type Manager used some file system call that Apple explicitly told developers not to use, in case it went away or changed in the future. An update to prepare the system for HFS+ came out, and ATM broke like you'd expect. It took over a year for Adobe to come out with the fix for ATM. Meanwhile, Extensis just updated their Suitcase software, since they heeded Apple's developer notes, and gained a large number of customers rather quickly.

    Emacs binding is present for all Cocoa text fields (Safari, Camino, most Apple-supplied apps with the occasional exception). You have no idea how many times I sit here at work on an XP system and try to Control-T to twiddle my typos!
