I would like to point out that this sort of accounting is not a new trick anywhere, not just in hollywood. This happens all the time, where a company would pay its sub fees above the fair market value of the service provided in order to create losses. The problem here is not the fact that they paid themselves, but paid too much.
Ideally, The terms for these types of related party transactions should be set out in the contract. Not bickered over after in courts. Especially since this has been going on for ages and ages.

Environmentalists with credentials like the author of that idiotic article. I actually had someone tell me he was an environmentalist when I asked what he did. And when I asked what sciences he studied in university, turned out he is a history major. How could that possibly help? Just reading something other scientists have published does not make you a scientist!
Too many obnoxious people describe themselves to be environmentalists because that's the cool thing to do now. When you read a claim made by someone, see what their credentials are. David Suzuki and David Attenborough for example are proper environmentalists. The guy who couldn't beat Bush in an election however, quoting JC, is not.

In India what we would consider jaywalking is known as "crossing the street". So no, your nightmare scenario would never happen. Otherwise everyone would be in jail.

What exactly are your enormous privacy concerns? This already exists here in toronto. This works well. The truth is, when they raise the temperature in your ac for a period of time, you don't notice it because the temperature change in your home is not instantaneous. By the time you notice the small change, if you do at all, it'll be back to your original setting.
The blurb makes it sound sinister IMo with stuff like "under their control". They're just trying to control the peaks so everyone has power.
Exactly. If they're so green, why sell something the size of a small 100 page paperback in a box the size of a dictionary? Not only is that a waste of packaging material, it's also wasteful for storage and shipping when all the trucks, trains and planes are carrying is essentially air. "green" my ass. I hate the hypocrisy of this green movement.
I think this sort of evolution is what is known in the communistical circles as a police state. I still don't know how the Brits deal with this much intrusion into their lives.
