I bought a brand new MacBook Pro (17") this past Friday (6 days ago). I'd have held out if I had known I could get a 1920 LCD. I wonder what the return/exchange policy is...
I don't understand why people don't get this... people really this dumb? Or does it just smack to much against personal ideologies..?
It's not theft because you're copying.. it's theft because you're denying payment (effectively stealing the payment) that should go to whomever is deserved for the article you've obtained. It doesn't matter whether or not you would have/would have not bought said item to potentially negate the loss. It doesn't matter if said item is virtual or intangible or has no physical manufacturing process. It matters because the only way you would otherwise obtain said item is by some form of reciprocal transaction.
When you bypass that transaction - it's theft. Plain and simple. Everything else is rationalization via semantics.
My father has the same problem with cell phones. Something in his physiology generates interference to the point he needs to carry an external antenna to make calls. Also interferes with broadcast TV and radio signals, computer screens, etc. Weird XFiles stuff.
It's most likely Baltimore Police. There was a big expose here about the BCPD forging or failing to take reports, browbeating victims to not press charges... a lot of really heinous stuff. Apparently it was done to try to keep reported crime levels artificillay low to help the mayor get elected to governor. There's been a lot of stink about it in certain news organizations.
No mod points, nothing to further the thread, but let me just say that yours has been the most insightful post I've ever read on this site, ever. Really, someone who *gets it*.
I think a lot of people are awake and angry, it's just pretty obvious there's nothing we can do anymore. Peaceful protest doesn't work, politicians are corrupt and only think of their personal agendas or careers. Or they are just headstrong and do what they want regardless because of some conscious (or not) power trip. Consequently our rights are being ignored and trampled.
I'd vote Hillary in if she ran simply because I can't think of a better way to say F-U to the current admin. But I'm pretty frightened of what she'd do as well.
The only reason drinking water is going to become scarce - in areas where it's now plentiful - is because governments/industry aren't building reservoirs necessary to keep up with the growth in population. They build quantity X and then expect it work as required indefinitely.
Look at all the hose pipe bans in England. I'm not British (but I do enjoy the BBC) so correct me if I'm wrong - they get serious amounts of rainfall, yet noone bothers to collect it so bans go into effect.
Also, global warming isn't going to evaporate water. Yes, worldwide ecological changes, but if anything, global warming is going to release more fresh water which in turn will end up in the atmosphere eventually rain. And then the problem becomes reservoirs.
The 'morons' don't know what executable means, or why there's a distinction between software and data. They view it has hardware vs. software with hardware being something that you insert (physically or digitally) software into - nothing more.
Minidisc is also essential in a lot of audio/video(audio component) acquisition (even over DAT). However, this is finally starting to slip as a lot of independents are now starting to use iRiver recorders.
If only - we're in the $2.50-$2.75 range for fees here in the Balt/DC area. A $3 fee is pretty much the point at which cost outweighs convenience and I startchanging my banking habits. All the features in the world isn't going make me more inclined to use more sophisticaed ATMs.
The theatrical edit showed painted matte plates (obvious - huh? kind of error) between the CG composites when the plane started going down. It was *Very* noticable and distracting. I believe the made for DVD and TV edits fixed it.
just one (me). Worked as the sole web developer for an mid-size public school system. 50+ schools, another 20 departments, intranet - roughly 14k pages of content.
You'll never have enough to do the job. It's up to you (and your personality / work ethic) whether or not you make the job work.
It's now integrated into the Finder (Closer Connections on the Finder page).

All gen iPods allow this.
ohhh irix.. teh seksi!! Yep - I'm basically guilty of the same thing as the previous poster.
A little rambling and disjointed (no offense), but damn.. wish I had mod points. Treat others the way you want them to treat you.
Tell me about it...
50-100oz magnet and sit it on top of the hard disk. Like the kind you find on the back of PA woofers. It's worked for me :)
iTunes for Windows allows WMA conversion.
Or does the original poster not understand the meaning of 'drink the kool-aid'?
It's a shame I can't raise it to +6.

(tired - can't spell)
I was looking for a Mac MMORPG and just started playing Shadowbane. Doesn't hurt that it's entirely free!
Clearly, you made a HUGE MISTAKE!

All good nerds know April Fools starts at GMT :>
$800 is worth more than $936 in Japan ^_^
