Hey, no attack here. I used to be an anti-tabber - and then they got it right. Mouse-wheel-click to open new tab in background, easy to move forwards or backwards, etc, etc. I must admit, I was shocked to find I love it and now I can't go back.
Actually a couple of years ago, there was a gigantic thread here about Microsoft's "Innovation". People would throw up innovations by Microsoft, someone else would cite either the company bought by MS that had that tech, or the original idea. Hell, Cleartype was done by Steve Wozniak back in the 1970's. It's actually quite depressing - you'd think they could come up with something new.
IIRC, there was an innovation - apparently they have a patent on a two-way door hinge.
Yeah, I have two of the BT cards. The catch is that I'm going after a dual-tuner solutions. According to Isaac, an Athlon 1800+ can "almost" record two shows and play a third. Not sure what the MPEG4 CPU usage is vs. the MPEG2, though.
Actually, it's quite odd. According to the old roadmap, they'd branch, with the Mozilla team doing further bug-fixing, while the Netscape team would focus on Netscape-oriented features and fixes. So you'd be at least a.1 or so off. Apparently they have a quick way to insert the "extra features" that Netscape wants.
I play The Simpsons and it's some lame episode that I've already seen way too many times, so I get bored and surf Slashdot. So, what episode was it that caused this post?
But as for the All-in-Wonders - they're not there yet, linux-wise. I tried 3-4 months ago using the OS driver that they're working on, but the All-in-Wonders are an ugly, ugly beast. Best to do the encoding elsewhere, or buy a better card. Most people on the list are using the Hauppage, which needs a good processor.
Yeah, except for the $200-300 specialty MPEG encoder. And yes, I know what's involved in a Mythtv box - for a dual tuner model, right now, it takes at least a 2000+ processor. And while it'll all get cheaper (and Isaac gets the hardware encoders working), so will this thing. I have a Panasonic DMR-HS2, and I absolutely love the thing. Provided this thing has a good implementation of the TiVo service, that is...
It's amazing, it's one of those times you should read the article. He starts out by making a couple good points, but then he gets progressively sillier. By the time I got to the end, I was laughing damn hard. Thanks, man. If this article had been rated, it would be a -2 Troll, +2 Funny
Maybe, but it's nice to know. And besides, we all know that processors will be twice as fast in 18 months. But that doesn't stop you from buying a PC.

Hell, several sites are doing running updates. Updates every minute or so. I wish Slashdot was doing that, actually, as all the other sites are, um, "slashdotted".
(From Lamar's web site) The 21st Congressional District stretches along the Interstate 35 Corridor from north San Antonio to west Austin and Travis County and encompasses all of the Texas Hill Country. Fourteen counties are included in the District.
One problem you should be aware of: there is no final 1.30 patch (as of last night). The servers are only at 1.29, unless you are running the beta version. So, if anyone's in an online campaign (I know I am), don't install SoU yet - you won't be able to play on most servers. You could grab the beta server and run that, but then everyone else would have to grab the 1.30 beta patch, which could be a pain.
Fortunately my copy comes in today (fsck Gamestop, by the way - they have a warehouse 30 miles from here, but because I pre-ordered it, they shipped it from Jersey - if I'm lucky I get it today. Morons.), my campaign runs on Saturday nights, so I'll spend Sunday in Undrentide.:)
Yeah, but doing the simple layer will be obviously anti-competitive (to us, anyhow). Plus, this way they can claim that it's a critical reason to upgrade Windows.
And while I'm thinking about it.... Happy Birthday Neverwinter! Tomorrow is the 1-year anniversary of the game coming out. Mac users get NWN, and PC users get Shadows of Undrentide. Life is good.
If nothing else, it makes the Aurora Toolset available to Mac-heads. Since there are a LOT of Mac-based graphics people out there, expect to see a lot more art assets made available over the next several months. This causes the game to last longer, enabling them to sell more Mac _and_ PC copies, and at a higher price point. Here we are, a year after the release, and Best Buy still carries it, and for $30. Heck, there are a lot of year-old games that go for $10.
for reference's sake. We know what the $200 computers have, WRT drives, CPU, etc. Let's see what Dell offers.
(these are the cheapest Dimension/Optiplex computers I could find right now.) $360 - Dimension 2350. P4-2200, 30g 7200rpm, 128mb, 48x, Microtower, Windows XP Home.
$360 - Optiplex SX260. Celeron 1800, 20g 5400rpm, 128mb, 24x, Ultrasmall Form Factor, Windows XP Home.
Yes, there are alternatives to the $200 machines. Just expect them to cost more.

Actually, hunt around - I've seen the video. It was Bill at an Apple II conference, 80 or 81. Didn't one of the old Apple CDs have the video?

The file is 658K. Don't worry.
I think the 10 minutes between responses, and the "sorry, had to reboot" messages, would make that clear.

Specs: Hmmm... I'll have to copy your list.

This should be 5: funny, not Insightful. If you register now, do they pass the number around to telemarketers? I somehow doubt it.
Although, with the slashdotting right now, it might BE October 1st before I get to register.
Tivo is practically just regular PC hardware.

Fortunately, it crashes due to date error, and never becomes aware again.

It's the "really super cool neato tiger monkey fast" version.
Did that help?
(and the answer is that it's a "True 2.0")

Well, yeah... putting 8 gig of RAM in _anything_ will up the price...
So, anyone else have the immediate urge to see if the URL was valid? :)
:(
It was.
Dammit!
