I don't know about you, but I got alot more than 4.5 hours on my original game boy. And yes, I had the sound on and brightness maxed.
Its not too much to expect an improvement in battery life with every iteration.
We all had the brightness maxed out on our original Gameboys.
And of course just to tick everybody off I must ask one question. Why do people get all worked up over Firefly? I enjoyed it and wish it had keep running but it wasn't really hard science fiction. Frankly it was "The Outlaw Jose Wales" in space. That isn't a bad thing but people get so worked up over it.
The western/Chinese twang/slang always seemed kind of jarring to me. Otherwise, it was a fun show.
As for hard scifi, one of my favorites is an anime series called Planetes. It's about astronauts whose job is to de-orbit space junk.
According to TFA, Super 8 "looks like a combination of The Goonies and Close Encounters Of The Third Kind." I'm pretty sure the movie that fits that description is E.T.
Netflix isn't stupid. They want advertising revenue just like every other network. Why else would they do this? $100 million is a lot of money, if you are going to just "give it away" to Netflix subscribers.
My guess is that the show will have ads. If you don't want ads, you can pay extra. Never mind that you are ALREADY paying for Netflix.
And how much less are you paying for it than Cable?
If the Système international had a swimsuit edition there'd be much more interest in science. Among males, anyway. But hey, I'd go for equal time for guys in Speedos if it'll bring more females into science.
...which would indirectly make science a little more appealing to men as well.
And I bet it says so right on the list of contraindications of the koolaid your [sic] swallowing.
Why the smug reply? I just meant that I don't want a smartphone and fear that full-featured, dedicated MP3 players are on the decline. The demand for such devices must be dwindling, since there isn't much serious competition to iPods anymore, at least not to their hard-disk based models.
While I agree that no matter HOW you look at it, it's rubbish, I think it's slightly less than, complete rubbish since Goldblum's character was somehow able to decode their "signal" before they attacked (using whatever mysterious interface he had plugged into his Mac, even if invisible). The story seems to suggest that he used that knowledge to "hack" their wireless network.
My vote goes to the Live Free or Die Hard, with the hackers causing explosions in the natgas infrastructure at will.
Just like the music industry, the electronic distribution of books has the publishers running scared. Writers are finally waking up to the fact that without the need to actually print books, they have no need of monolithic publishing houses whatsoever. They can self-publish with little to no overhead and keep the profits for themselves. $9.95 (or more, oftentimes) is an abso-friggin-lutely ridiculous price to charge for an e-book.
You'll need to hire a competent editor or two, and probably have to invest in some sort of marketing scheme if you're unknown. Or maybe for marketing you just have a kickass blog.
Please explain how an iPad makes a better text book than, say, a Kindle...
Interactivity?
I have heard great things (not specifically about iPads) about the benefits of increased of student-teacher interactivity and feedback using computer devices. Traditionally in a class a teacher asks a question and one person answers. If everyone has a wireless device then everyone can submit an answer and the teacher can get a much better idea of how well the subject matter is understood and what they need to put more work into.
That's pretty awesome but that doesn't make it a better book, that makes it something else entirely.
This whole tax from the state it comes from/tax from the state you live in needs to be decided (federally) and set in stone once and for all. Same goes for who collects it and when.
You mean a sensible use of the Commerce Clause? Unheard of!
Remember folks: EVERYONE in the House who was pro-Net Neutrality was removed from power via massive corporate campaign donations (which are now unlimited because of our Wing Nut Supreme Court).
Just because Republicans tend to get more corporate donations and Democrats tend to get more union donations doesn't mean Net Neutrality had any meaningful impact on the 2010 election cycle.
... the terrorists have already won? That seems the logic behind the DHS seizing domains at the RIAA's request.
I'm pretty sure even if there were never 9-11 hijackers or a DHS, the RIAA and MPAA would have found some other government agency to overstep its bounds and pull this kind of crap. Hooray for the good senator in trying to shed light on it.
it was given to barack obama, because instead of emphasizing divisions and accumulated (rightful) anger, he chose to express a road of peace, union and collaboration in between races, and managed to successfully bring black and white together during his election campaign.
it doesnt matter whether you like him or not, it doesnt matter what our political views are. this was what had happened.
and, scientists dont get PEACE prices, fool.
So you're saying that he was eligible for the prize because he was a black man who got white people to vote for him? That's not peace, that's political success. Whether it has a long lasting affect on race relations in the US will remain be to be seen (I'm hopeful).
I voted against the original high speed rail initiative, but have since come around. Eventually our cheap oil won't be available (it will be there for a long time, but not necessarily cheap), and I'm already tired of traffic. Rail makes a lot of sense for densely populated regions, or travel therebetween.
...was the President's jest that a benefit of high speed rail was the absence of a pat down. If he realizes this bothers people... why not actually address privacy rights and the out-of-control TSA in his SOTU speech instead of bringing it up and throwing it aside?
If you cheered his 'liberation' of the PS3 you can't really be unhypocratically mad about Sony's response.
Um, yes I can, because there are plenty of content producers and distributors who don't punish their customers in ANY WAY for buying their products, pirates-be-damned.
BTW, I can't speak to the others, but Portal was developed by the team while they were at Valve. Portal's a far, far cry from Narbacular Drop. That was definitely not a case of Valve buying an existing program and rebranding it.
It's not a problem. It was probably the modders' dream come true.
You know kids are spoiled
I think you know kids are spoiled when their parents buy them a $250 handhelds.

We all had the brightness maxed out on our original Gameboys.
We can still laught a them loudly right ?
This doesn't help your cause any.

I always preferred Zunes to iPods, even back in the 30GB days. I'm not really interested in getting a smartphone either. Guess I'm not most people.
Independence Day... light years away

And the businesses who would directly benefit by supplying the online classes gave donations to help him get elected.
Organization donates money to politician whose agenda will benefit it. News at 11.

What about an SD card slot or USB port?
Wait 'til season 2.
An old roommate got me to watch some of it with him. I never enjoyed it, and I even thought the puppets were a strong point.
I can't blame Amazon at all for this.

There is really no reason to have all the additional expense of toll roads.
Sure there is. This way the bridge is (at least partly) paid for by those who actually use it.

Be sure to thank Geohotz for this.

"Feast your eyes on yon game! We, Blizzard, have made it, and therefore it is good!"
By Blizzard, I think you mean Valve. :)
You mean the same Valve that has done more than any other company to promote user generated content?
