Heh. I weened myself off Valve games for a good 5 months or so. I loaded it back up last monday, saw the new game... and I was compelled to buy. Seriously, I had no idea. I went in blind.
I'm more than a little peeved that I paid $20 for this amount of content. I expected the game to take me at least a few nights to beat, but instead I was finished by early Thursday evening. The gameplay was a little tougher than the original HL2, but I'm still not convinced it makes up for the price.
I may play the game again in commentary mode, which was enjoyable in HL2:Lost Coast. But, in contrast, I have devoted countless hours (read:many many days of life and *cough*work*cough*) to CS:Source, and it just happened to come along with the package I got for HL2.
Great book. I had to read it for a Critical Thinking course. It definately gives you a good view of how the statistics generated for media really work, as well as how much weight you should put on them.
OT: Always makes me think of Homer Simpson saying "Oh, people can come up with statistics to prove anything, Kent. 14% of people know that."

My employer is actually considering making this a cost for the consumer. Was something along the lines of adding "jitter" so that VOIP conversations will be useless until you pay their extortion fee.
Couldn't have said it better myself. The only FF game that sticks out in my mind since FF3 (6j) is Tactics, but still... that was a Tactics Ogre ripoff.
True dat. I still go back to 1e for some of the best gaming ever.
I don't really know why all these guys love their 3E so much. The real goal when we're playing is to get into the role. I have found that with 2E, or even 1E... the lack of rules have allowed us to play more unhindered. 3/3.5E is much too rule based, and takes away from the flow and natural progression of the game. There's no more role playing, it's rule mongering.
Um, since the SAR level is measured in Watts/Kg... how is it relevant? I highly doubt any of those "Top 10" models have anywhere near 1kg of mass. Which means, they don't output anywhere near the wattage you are lead to believe they do.
Ok, so I don't play first edition... but I also don't play that tripe known as 3e or 3.5 or whatever you wanna call it.
We play AD&D 2E, and we love it. Sure we play with house rules, but I enjoy it much more than the new and extremely rigid rules. We actually have imagination when we play, not extremely nimble fingers to look up all the rules we need, or handle our miniatures.
I concur. The namecalling (and the little picture they had beside it: "BeavisWeek: Lies") really turned me off the whole article. I believe the author should take a course in Critical Thinking. Even some slashdot posters can put together posts without letting insults fly (sometimes).

You're a member of one of the *AA's? You know how they operate? Well, why don't you give us heads up next time this sort of thing is gonna happen?
Oh, that's right, you're talking out of your arse... you really have no clue how they find sites or which ones are on their radar.

I'm pretty sure 99.9% of life here isn't intelligent. Take Dubya for example...

We're not talking ISP... we're talking national telecommunications.

Heh. You beat me to it.
Amazing that we have a system that violates a patent posted about right after a posting about the patent. It's perfect!
He says there's 10 chapters, but I only see two mentioned in the summary... and not even a suggestion of what may be in the other eight.

WFRP (Warhammer Fantasy Roleplay) also rules.

I do believe there is evidence of "His Noodly Appendages" visible from Earth.

The poster is Beatles-Beatles under a different name who was hired by IBM to do some google pagerank increasing.
Anyone have a link to a cam torrent so I can watch this and not feel guilty about giving money to sony? ;)
Seriously though. BOYCOTT!
I'm the nerd who felt compelled to make a mob joke... but let's face reality, we all read slashdot. We're all nerds.
