  12. The reason there was a ban on U.S. Blogger Breaches Canadian Publication Ban · · Score: -1

is that some of the people acting as witness during the testimony will be facing criminal (read fraud) charges in the near future. By placing a publication ban, the judge is trying to limit the number of people knowing too much about the case to be a jury. It also reduces the chances of mistrial.

The blogger actually did a favour to those guys who (allegedly to be correct) defrauded Canadian taxpayers of millions.

I'm a Candian citizen and back in 97, I went to the US through the Detroit bridge. I was greeted by a guy pulling his hand gun pointing it at my head and screaming.

I had to go the immigration's office with my hands on my head. There the people were far more pleasant. I had however to show student ID's, how much cash I was carrying as well as handing out other personal information.

Guess what, it's the same thing in businesses. American (and Canadian) businesses always do the same crap day in day out while European Businesses actually take risks to develop new things (The Concorde comes as an example). Although not profitable in the long run, new ideas came out from the project instead of using the same American engineering cookbook receipes.
