P2P is easier for newbies, it's more familiar. But not to worry, even newbies will do whatever is needed to get what they want. MP3's are everywhere and their's nothing that can stop it.
Once the toothpaste is out, it's hard to get it back in.
But hey, I'm sure their's a better way to solve a simple conflict like this one. They could've met with Lindows to discuss the situation instead of getting lawyers and judges and laws involved.
Euh, I've used MS OS's for 8 years now and never had a virus. I've used Linux for 4 years now and never had a virus. I've used OS2 for 6 months and never had a virus. I've used MAC OS for 3 months and never had a virus.
Grow up dude, when is the last time you saw a power user get hit by a virus?
In short :
PS2 sold 962,000 consoles between Nov. 11 and Dec. 8
Xbox sold 934,000 consoles between Nov. 15 and Dec. 8
GameCube sold 603,000 consoles between Nov. 18 and Dec. 8
I'm really impressed by the number of consoles sold by Xbox, I wasn't expecting them to beat Nintendo. Some sales people in here were saying that the Gamecube was outselling the Xbox, I guess this proves them wrong.
Anyway, I got my Xbox, Halo and DOA 3. I'll probably get a GameCube to.
As soon as Linux gets a better GUI than Windows it's desktop marketshare will rise dramatically. Linux in the server space is extremely popular, why is that? Because it's pretty damn good.
I just don't think that KDE or GNOME cut it. We need a new GUI that doesn't rely on XWindow.
I never understood what all the buzz about music is about. I prefer reading poems and novels, watching TV, movies, etc. instead of listening to some retard sing.
Desktops are very much easy to use nowadays, when exactly will we stop trying to make things easier and easier? I'm getting tired of all that talk about how we could make things more usable. They're already extremely simple for God's sake.
AbiWord is free, if all software was free, it's value will go down. If you could have anything that you want in this world, sooner or later you'll get bored.
Actually yes, some people do pick up the phone to dial MS when a problem with Word occures. Let's say you work for a helpdesk and some important employee who gets paid $100k/year insists that a certain feature in Word is not behaving as it should but you know that they're wrong. Of course, the manager will believe the employee and will ask you to call MS so you can prove that you're telling the truth. This kind of stuff happens in a corporate environment.
Need a solution? Abiword is much nicer than the StarOffice's one.
I say, hire a few developpers and put a $29.95 price on AbiWord. Why are you giving it away for free? Sooner or later you'll realise that you need more than an average income to accomplish your dreams.
Yes theoricly Open Source isn't necesserily free(beer) but all those thousands and thousands of free Open Source apps showing up on freshmeat and sourceforge prove that in practice, 99% of Open Source software is free.
Return to Castle Wolfenstein. it's a great game.

All the suing going on is simply ridiculous.
good point. On the other hand, I don't think that Lindows was a threat. Maybe Mandrake or Redhat but most definitely not Lindows.

Maybe cmdrTaco should post the Slashdot stats of it's users OS
MS screwed AOL once again :)
I think Nintendo said that they actually sold 800,000 consoles. It's pretty good. Imagine 3 million consoles sold within a month :)

Al Qaeda members aren't supposed to know what the other members are doing. Their own mission is revealed to them at the last moment.
In the article they mention the following : "authorities find some of his claims inconsistent and "too theatrical to believe.""
This guy is probably not even a member of Al Qaeda, he's just a crazy guy who's probably too dumb to even be a terrorist.
It this was true, Al-Qaeda would have already won the war by now.
For some reason, they want us to believe that Ben Laden and his Al-Qaeda group are more powerfull than they really are.
Desktops are very much easy to use nowadays, when exactly will we stop trying to make things easier and easier? I'm getting tired of all that talk about how we could make things more usable. They're already extremely simple for God's sake.
yeah it sure is the best. How come you never realised that Apple.com switched to Mac OS X for sometime and then switched back to Solaris?
I mean this guy always manages to become an extremely experienced user of a doomed OS.
good point, maybe
The Grinch has a new excuse for stealing trees this season
All those Slashdot who-geeks perhaps, know the reason
feel free to continue...
Usually, patches take about 2 days or so to be available on windowsupdate.
Geez, no wonder you think that MS sucks. Updates of all the workstations can be done easily without your intervention.
You should read some SysAdmin books.

I'll be one of the first to buy it.

MS makes them think that the content will be secure but at the same time WMP asks the user if he wants to activate DRM :)
MS should keep on screwing those bastards.
I can now record all those WMV porn clips I have into a DVD and play them on my DVD Player :)
The more formats the DVD Players support, the better.
