    P2P is easier for newbies, it's more familiar. But not to worry, even newbies will do whatever is needed to get what they want. MP3's are everywhere and their's nothing that can stop it.

    But hey, I'm sure their's a better way to solve a simple conflict like this one. They could've met with Lindows to discuss the situation instead of getting lawyers and judges and laws involved.

    All the suing going on is simply ridiculous.

    good point. On the other hand, I don't think that Lindows was a threat. Maybe Mandrake or Redhat but most definitely not Lindows.

    Euh, I've used MS OS's for 8 years now and never had a virus. I've used Linux for 4 years now and never had a virus. I've used OS2 for 6 months and never had a virus. I've used MAC OS for 3 months and never had a virus.

    Grow up dude, when is the last time you saw a power user get hit by a virus?

    I think Nintendo said that they actually sold 800,000 consoles. It's pretty good. Imagine 3 million consoles sold within a month :)

    In short :
    PS2 sold 962,000 consoles between Nov. 11 and Dec. 8
    Xbox sold 934,000 consoles between Nov. 15 and Dec. 8
    GameCube sold 603,000 consoles between Nov. 18 and Dec. 8

    I'm really impressed by the number of consoles sold by Xbox, I wasn't expecting them to beat Nintendo. Some sales people in here were saying that the Gamecube was outselling the Xbox, I guess this proves them wrong.

    Anyway, I got my Xbox, Halo and DOA 3. I'll probably get a GameCube to.

    As soon as Linux gets a better GUI than Windows it's desktop marketshare will rise dramatically. Linux in the server space is extremely popular, why is that? Because it's pretty damn good.

    I just don't think that KDE or GNOME cut it. We need a new GUI that doesn't rely on XWindow.

    In the article they mention the following : "authorities find some of his claims inconsistent and "too theatrical to believe.""

    This guy is probably not even a member of Al Qaeda, he's just a crazy guy who's probably too dumb to even be a terrorist.

    AbiWord is free, if all software was free, it's value will go down. If you could have anything that you want in this world, sooner or later you'll get bored.

    Actually yes, some people do pick up the phone to dial MS when a problem with Word occures. Let's say you work for a helpdesk and some important employee who gets paid $100k/year insists that a certain feature in Word is not behaving as it should but you know that they're wrong. Of course, the manager will believe the employee and will ask you to call MS so you can prove that you're telling the truth. This kind of stuff happens in a corporate environment.

    Need a solution? Abiword is much nicer than the StarOffice's one.

    I say, hire a few developpers and put a $29.95 price on AbiWord. Why are you giving it away for free? Sooner or later you'll realise that you need more than an average income to accomplish your dreams.

    I'll be one of the first to buy it.

    Yes theoricly Open Source isn't necesserily free(beer) but all those thousands and thousands of free Open Source apps showing up on freshmeat and sourceforge prove that in practice, 99% of Open Source software is free.
