"I'm sure he was, but that doesn't mean he wasn't extremely naive and stupid. I don't really know if what he did was illegal or not. I do know that it was potentially dangerous, really stupid, and could have been done in a much less dangerous way and accomplished the same goals."
You know, we can argue the rest of your points forever, but I cannot deny this. He did come off as very naive, so I concede reason to you.
I have a launch playstation from about 5 or 6 years ago, still works. =)
I'll be the first to give sony some crap for things they did wrong, but I've never had a problem with their hardware. I haven't tried VAIO PCs, tho, which I hear are pretty bad.
Well, the US Government allows guns, yet owning one is not a reason for anyone to go to jail. Just because he created software that *could* be used maliciously, he hasn't broken the law.
"attempted to circumvent an established civil aviation security program established in the Transportation Security Regulations"
As far as anyone knows, he did NOT personally attempt to circumvent the security program, and he did not encourage people to use it. He just said "You know it's possible to do this, you guys should be more careful."
It's the same as saying "You know, you can make a BOMB by combining these chemicals". He doesn't go to jail for that.
I read his blog, and it was clear he did it because he was concerned about the illusion of security from airports. He was just trying to help.
It's their software that leaves a lot to be desired. I shall leave it to other slashdotters to make a list of all the things Sony does wrong on the software side (beginning with DRM...)
I haven't been to work in about 3 months. Basically living from my savings and a porn website (check my sig!;) ).
I thought I was young, invulnerable, but working from 9am to 7pm just got to me, after about 4 years. Now I just can't agree with the idea that I have to go and do stuff for someone ever again.
And I feel happy without that. I think something just broke, and I don't want to fix it.
Wow, I participated in that program. Amazon gave you some discounts if you selected the best picture of a certain house/street out of a bunch.
It did look like all the photos were taken from a van full of cameras, much like the one described here. And honestly, about 90% (or more) of the photos were total, blurry, useless crap.
I suppose it was a total failure, since the a9 maps site doesn't even work anymore. I wonder what MS will do differently to make it produce a profit?
When I bought a 1gb SD card for my vacation, the nice lady at the counter offered to open it for me. Thankfully I said "Sure, thanks", and she pulled out a gigantic pair of scissors, and spent a couple of minutes struggling with the packaging, to finally hand me the tiny sd card.
I, as a tourist, would have NEVER opened the damn packaging with my bare hands alone (and I didn't have a razor or anything nearby).
This man knows. One of the companies I worked for ran their whole accounting system with Windows 95, set up to emulate DOS. They still do, I believe. And they employ about 150 people, contractors not included. The accounting system must be about 15 years old now.
All because no one wants to switch to a new version.
Web Browser receives patch, news at 11!
Also, what I had for breakfast today, stay tuned for my full report, right after these messages!
Sir, I am in Mexico and even here, 175 dollars is not "A decent amount of money".
It's a reeeeally slow sunday, that's how it became news.
As am I. That's why I switched my homepage from Google to the Wikipedia. It's a faster gateway into real information.
Oh, pish. Just have a drink and chill out, friend. http://www.google.com/googlegulp/
IT'S A TRAP!
But doesn't sleep mode waste a little electrical power? After a few months, the rising cost in electricity may be noticeable.
Porn.
Just wait until the dupe, and then you can enjoy Vuja De!
Dude, what do you want, my receipt and a photo? I just finished Guitar Hero 2 last week(on expert, I might add 8) )
:)
I don't know, maybe I got lucky, or you are really unlucky

At least not in Opera, all it displays is a blank window after searching.
Good job Microsoft!
Not my EMAIL ADDRESS! However will I face society now that it is registered on MySpace? ;_;
The funny thing was you got these popup ads with a Windows style error graphic... even if you were on Linux.
It's not unwise, admitting you were wrong is wise.
The problem is... It's *politically* unwise.

Sony has ALWAYS has great hardware.

Aww, come on! The only reason I preordered a Wii was because I wanted a Bob Ross game. This sucks :(
Sure, I could paint by hand, but... No, wait, I couldn't.
I thought the game would make it much easier, kind of a Guitar Hero with paint.
Whoops! Thanks for the tip. Actually, yes, I am an amateur ;)

Seconding this!

This is also true in Mandarin. Number 4, "Sì", means clock, or death. So 4 is generally a bad luck number.
