Okay, now here's my real question, what kind of opportunities does this present for opportunistic Americans who see this trend this early in its cycle? Should I go back to school to learn how to manage Indians over the phone? They speak english, so I don't have to learn Hindi (or another dialect). What about starting an outsourcing company? If its going to happen anyway, why not cash in..
..medical software? It's a niche market, and even if you don't code, I'm sure you could bankroll some supercool medical idea. Brainstorm with your doctor buddies, do some market research (or hire some market researchers), and fund the project. Make a piece of software that you would like to use in your own practice, then sell it.
What leads you to believe it isn't a Slashdot subscriber? It's probably someone reading this right now as this website proliferates more anti-sco-ism than any others that come to mind.
One thing nobody is talking about(and a another possible 'ask slashdot' article) is what about online CS degrees (or any for that matter). It seems to me a lot of (accredited)online universities have come a long way in the last few years. Not to mention brick and mortar universities offering online degrees. Has anyone gone through this type of program? I'd be very interested to hear your experience, as well as any scoffs you may have had by a potential employer..
Of course, it is obvious that no computer virus has caused loss of human life (yet).
Obvious? You should have see my manager after blaster hit us last year... he lived through it but looked like it was going to give him a stress related heart attack.
Isn't our current, dying, spacestation; international? Whats wrong with making the moon project a collaboration between the US, China and India? Oh yeah, Bush doesn't know they exist, or if he does he doesn't care!
IPng supports addresses which are four times the number of bits as IPv4 addresses (128 vs. 32). This is 4 Billion times 4 Billion times 4 Billion (2^^96) times the size of the IPv4 address space (2^^32). This works out to be:
340,282,366,920,938,463,463,374,607,431,768,2 11,45 6
Google isn't a mindreader! You have to tell it what you want (and in some cases what you don't want). Be search engine savvy, or dig through an internet catalog, I doubt those things are going to change anytime soon.

Not exactly. The search engine user just has to be a little more search engine savvy. For instance, if you are looking for information about the 'place' Bermuda, but want to avoid all the advertisments, put "Bermuda -hotel" into google. Shows up with airline ticket ads? Then change it to "Bermuda -hotel -airfare". Basically you can strip down your searches, get through all the chaff and find what you are looking for.

Do this:
1. Find 'my computer'
2. Right click on it, select manage.
3. Expand 'services and applications' (Left side)
4. Click on 'Services' (Left side)
5. Double click 'Messenger' (Right side)
6. Change 'startup type' to 'disable'
7. Click stop
8. okay yourself all the way out.
9. Restart

Can you imagine donning VR goggles & gloves to write a letter or buy airline tickets? It's just plain easier & faster to do it the way we do it today.
My parents think its faster to just get out a piece of paper to write a letter, and to call the airlines to buy your tickets.
Which is how they do it today.
If you used a VR OS to do your everyday work, then buying tickets and writing a letter with a good old fashioned screen full of windows with a keyboard & mouse would be a royal pain in the ass.

If my job goes to india, can my bills go too?

Awesome answer, but how does he do that?
No, really.
Tell that to 2/3rds of the internet.
