Citizen's arrest powers only apply to violent acts, and usually only to felonies. Sorry, but you can't slap handcuffs on the guy in the next cube because he has a few MP3's.
Seems to me that in the long run, Linux will have given wine to Micro$oft. In the next few years, when OS X and Linux start to gain momentum on the desktop, corporations will probably still be purchasing Office and running it under wine, thus M$ will still make money.
Also, you do realise that violent crime in your country has dropped year on year in the last 10 years? So why exactly do you need all this weaponry?
(I know, I know, this whole thing is offtopic, but still...)
Actually, that violent crime rate drop directly correlates with the issuance of concealed carry permits, and the rates have dropped more in states where carry permits are easily available (notably FL and TX). When the criminals know that any of the customers at the gas station / liquor store may be packing, they leave their own guns at home.
That gave me an interesting idea. Eventually these laws (ala the Corps making them get written) are going to end up cancelling each other out.
To summarize: The DMCA says you cannot build a 'device' that can circumvent(blah blah) a copy or access control system. To use this to their advantage, Sony decides to build a new DVD player and markets matching DVDs that are only authorized to be played on those systems.
Ding! Instant monopoly position. But I digress...
Anyway, Time Warner and Disney also get the bright idea to do something like this at the same time (maybe because of reading some slightly anarchistic postings on a popular online message board?)
At this point you are not allowed to play a Sony DVD on a Time Warner DVD player, or vice versa.
This gets ugly for both the Corps and the consumers.
Sound like fantasy? So would have the DMCA ten years ago.
You will need to call (809) 555 1212 to start the process. Please have your DOB, SSN#, CC#, and mother's maiden name ready when you call.
And do not, under and circumstances, open any email from me with "It Takes Guts to Say 'Jesus'" or SULFNBK.EXE in the subject line. It contains a nasty virus!!!!!!
Easy solution:

Seems like they would have already replaced the technical staff with more lawyers by now.

Perhaps the COSD team is aware of this.
Good idea, except for one thing: often someone's reply to the pedant sparks an interesting line of discussion.
Maybe this time Paris Hilton wouldn't be lying when she says she didn't about the camera.

Only if you sell the popcorn do you have to release the modified kernel.
Actually, that idea gets better as you realize the result:
Currently, the to make use of the iPod you need to have a Mac/PC. Sad to say, lots of consumers still don't have PCs - or at least have sh*tty ones.
Making the PSX the connection point for the PVP device would potentially open up a broader customer base for Sony.
No "P"? Then how did you write in the snow?
sorry, it's been a long day...

...this entire thread falls into the "No Shit" category.
Move on, nothing new to see here.
pssssstttt... comments don't get compiled into the bytecode.
OK, so add MX records for your outbound mail servers / network.
Actually, there's a team of people at IBM (and I'm sure a few other companies) doing exactly that.
Is there a legal term for that?
Use apache!
Wire Fraud: Class 3 Felony (probably federal if you cross state lines.)
Mail Fraud: Class 3 Felony (definitely federal)
Defense: good luck.
B&E: Avoidable, just knock.
Assault and Battery: reducible to a single misdemeanor.
Defense: extenuating circumstances.
Of course, IANAL.
Why do I always run out of moderator points just before running across comments like this?
Odd. That's exactly the hardware in my (home) Red Hat server at the moment. Maybe I'll actually take a look at it tonight.

...must be throwing a party right about now.
... to see the day when (non-IT) people say, "You're running Windows?! Why would you want that? You can't do anything with that!"
